What's the best iPhone and/or Android applications out there?

I've heard of a few... Emoji (enables special emoticons for SMS use), Gas Buddy (lists cheapest gas prices in a specific area or your area), Tango (video communication), Barcode Scanner (looks up more information from scanning the barcode of a product), and several others.

My favorites for the iPhone are...

Meebo - for IMing
TweetDeck - for Twitter and Facebook
Hipstamatic - Cool retro-style camera app
Amazon.com app
Captionfish - see what movies are captioned near you
Groupon/LivingSocial - get good deals on various stuff/services
Mint.com - keep track of your finances
Yelp - find restaurants and other businesses near you and read reviews, get info, etc
Lose it! - Keep track of your food (calorie) intake and exercise habits
AppShopper - find new apps, add apps to your wish list (for price tracking reasons), etc
The Weather Channel app - more detailed than the Weather app the iPhone comes with
Dropbox - indispensable if you often have to shuttle files around from computer to computer - this app/service has allowed me to forget about usb drives altogether!
Find iPhone - if you lose your iPhone, this is what you want to use.
HippoRemote - control your PC with your iPhone!
Netflix - watch movies and TV shows.
IMDB - get info about movies/tv
Kindle - read books.

Wow, I am such an app addict ... and that list doesn't even include games...Haha.

Ok here are some games :P
Doodle Jump - see how high you can jump
Angry Birds (this is a game people either love or hate, your mileage may vary)
Cut the Rope
Words with Friends (scrabble-style game you can play with friends)

These are just some of the "classic" and most popular games on the iPhone...

Okay, I think I'm done!

I have QR code on my androids phone. I scanned your avatar and it's showed "VamPyroX" on my phone.. doesn't have any website and etc.. just only a text appeared.

Yeah. I did that on purpose. I might add more to my avatar later. :)

I like the SlideIT keyboard for my Android phone. Instead of tapping, you slide your finger from letter to letter, lifting it at the end of the word, before "sliding" or "swiping" the next word. Once you get used to it, it's much quicker. The app is pretty forgiving and guesses your word most of the time even if you miss the occasional letter. The only drawback is that it can be funny around automatic capitalization at beginning of sentences. I was told that the best one is by 'Swype' but it doesn't seem to be available anymore on Android Marketplace. I think I read somewhere that a phone manufacturer (Samsung?) had locked them into a single manufacturer deal. I use HTC.

You mean SWYPE? Yes, that's also cool. Did you know that while "swyping", moving the finger above the keyboard automatically upper-cases the previous letter?

For instance, you start with H and move above the keyboard then to E then L then above the keyboard then L then O then lift your finger. You've spelled HeLlo. :)

That's cool! Unfortunately I cannot get hold of SWYPE as it's not available on Android Marketplace anymore. SlideIT is the next best, but it doesn't have the upper-casing function that you've just described :-(

P.S. What model phone do you have? I read somewhere that a phone manufacturer have locked SWYPE exclusively into their own phone OS

SWYPE comes with some phones and not with some phones. It's probably cuz your phone isn't compatible with it. Which phone do you have?

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )

My phone comes with swype. I can't get used to it. I type a lot on it with two thumbs in landscape mode.

Swype Beta

I have a HTC Desire which is compatible (see this YouTube clip)[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq88rt4G7UM"]see this YouTube clip[/ame] Turns out that Swype is either pre-installed or you have to apply for it as a Beta tester (link: Swype Beta) . It's not available on Android Marketplace. I'm going to apply.
