This may be useful to know when grocery shopping or any shopping, if it's a concern to you.

BARCODES.jpg

The whole world is afraid of China-made "black hearted goods".

Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ?

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690, 691 or 692, the product is MADE IN CHINA.

471 is Made in Taiwan .

This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.

Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "MADE IN CHINA ", so they don't show from which country it is made.

However, you may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits are:

690-692 … then it is MADE IN CHINA .
00 - 09 … USA & CANADA
30 - 37 … FRANCE
40 - 44 … GERMANY
47 ... Taiwan
49 … JAPAN
50 … UK

BUY USA by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number. We need every boost we can get!

I personally could give a shit less where my product is made. I mean maybe my old man perfers American-made merch but we all know all the 'cool stuff' is made in Japan and that's not gonna change.

Hahaha... true.

I don't really care much for where it's made. I just use my best judgment and also go by word of mouth. If someone recommends a product, I'll get it. If I'm familiar with the product, I'll get it. If it's a new product that isn't appealing to me, I won't get it. I'm not going to grab every product I get my hands on and start looking for "Made in China" before rejecting it.

We, in australia, dont get these australian made products but most of the time, we get made from China products

What I understand about the barcode is the first half is the code for the company and the other half (except for the last number) is the code for their products. The last number is a check digit to make sure that you enter the whole number right. If you enter the number wrong and it figured out what the check digit code should be and if it doesn't match the check code you just entered, the program will tell you that you made a mistake. I used to do the programming where the check digit is involved.

Like I posted in another thread. Just about anything you consume is harmful.

So Eat, Drink, and be merry! :D

Most barcodes that I come across in Wal-Mart start with 0. The only numbers we are concerned with are the numbers directly below the barcode.

As banjo pointed out no numbers can tell you where anything is made and U.S. laws REQUIRE that all products have the country of origin listed on the product. This is why we see a lot of MADE IN CHINA or MADE IN TAIWAN.

No Chinese business man is going to be able to get around this law by "marking" the country of origin with the barcode. If the country of origin is not listed on the product, it cannot be sold here in the United States.
