Australia apologizes to child migrants of WWII

I don't think they should have to apologize any more than a mother put her child for adoption for a good reason. Just because they are in Australia doesn't mean they are in a horrible place (every place is as good as the next one). The only thing they should apologize for is if they KNEW these kids were going to be abused and didn't bother checking on them or got the issue straightened up. .

And to this day, we still don't have America to apologize for slavery, do we?

Sometimes, it's way too late to apologize for anything. What's done is done.

Better late than never.

Wooo... full of clichés and trite today.

Anyway, it is unfortunate that the kids sent overseas got abused. An unfortunate by-product of trying to protect them from German bombings, and a potential invasion.

What does that have to do with this story?

The victims of this story are still alive.

Australia is helping them reunite with families, where possible.

Many of the child victims are still alive in this situation. I don't know that they want apologies so much as they want help in dealing with the abuse.

It's never too late to validate a person's experiences and express compassion for them. This must mean a lot to the people who are still alive and dealing with it. I hope that they are getting help and find peace. It is a very sad story.

So many kids have been told that their families are dead by whoever looked after them such as the orphanages, churches only to find out year later that they are not orphans and do have families alive and out there waiting for them to come home.

This apology also applies to children who were taken from their families in Australia without probable cause and split up. Many were placed into cares or put up for adoption without their parents' permission, and so many were abused.

Many of these childrens and their families are left with unimaginable scars and wouldn't have much trust in their governments.

I believe that the UK and Australia should each make equal compenations to every one of those victims.
