No, no, I'm not talking about the Disney flick.

I'm talking about the real thing, it is believed that Atlantis did exist and had sunk below the waves around 11,000 - 12,500 years ago. It was "located" between North America and closer to Europe, Africa according to Plato.

So, I'm just curious what you have to say about this. Is it actually a place that exists?

At least, do you think so?

To me, I think it's possible. Heck, you saw what happened to Asia recently and it's possible that it had wiped out an ancient Indian village that has existed for at least 1,500 years which sparked the thought of Atlantis. Which obviously inspired me to create this thread. :)

So, any thoughts?

I believe that there is something like that out there. For all we know, it probably moved elsewhere... like on Stargate: Atlantis. ;)

Our world is a forever changing place. Volcanoes have knocked out entire civilizations before, so I don't think it is too far fetched to believe a city once existed and is now covered by water.

Banjo, Atlantis been always.. always fascinating to me. Ask any of my IRL friends & Nas, they will verify that one for me lol. I bought several books (archaeology, histories, stories, researches, etc) about Atlantis.

Edit: Oh yes about your question, I do believe that Atlantis does exist but again, that's me.

I also find this aspect fascinating. Ugh, should I copy my reply to the other thread you created in AK, Bans?

Possible they existed once if the bible said about Noah's time, flooded and destroyed everywhere.

Please do, it would make a good contribution here.

Didn’t somebody recently claim that he had identified Atlantis from satellite photos of the Mediterranean Sea? Memory is failing me right now—I’ll have to go do a CNN.com search.

I’m pretty sure this is the guy. The dates match up—I remember it as being earlier last year when it was in the news. Other details are also consistent, such as his claims that what he found matches Plato’s written descriptions of the city. If I remember correctly, a lot of other archeologists think he’s a fruitcake.

Ooh... thanks for the links! Boy, those sound pretty convincing! Sometimes, I wish I was immortal... then I could just walk right down to the bottom and check it out myself. ;)

*groans* Banjo. You realy love me, buddy. I know you do.

Plato, Cayce and all have had words about Altantis.

Kryon Q/A on Altantis

I've even heard some accounts that Altantis was assaulted by tsaumais violently and other natural disasters many many more destructive than the ones that happened around Christmas, that the locals had to go somewhere else and abandon the place. It's said that they left for Greece, Phoenica (did some trading with these countries)...
I wouldn't be even surprised if the locals left for South America or USA, even. I'm sure there's some Altantean in all of us. ;)

Remember, there's the theory of Pangea... when the continents were once one giant land mass... there had to be some serious continental drifting and breaking up of land mass in the times of Altantean civilization.

It brings us back to the point that our land is still in that process, just not as bad like it was before... maybe, we'll see. Actually, NASA recognizes that the earth has become more wobbly and the days have shortened... they believe it's a direct influence from those tsaumais of the Asian regions. (source: http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/lookingatearth/Landsat_Tsunami.html)

Doesn't hurt to spectulate at least. ;) We are still learning about ourselves through exploration and experience. Anyone who says they have knowledge of everything are fools or liars (at least, implied by Socrates!).

Since the legend of Atlantis are pretty old, I'm leaning towards the fabled island being of Mediterranean origin, specifically the Aegean sea area. I think that the island of Crete was fairly advanced for the peak of Ancient Greek civiliation, and thus a lot of the "Atlantis" rumors were directly attributable to that island.

yeah heck! I believe it is out there somewhere...most fascinating is pyrmaids...there is like one in middle east, asia, mexico, south america and list goes on..... I believe america was not discovered by christopher colmbus..it has to do with atlantis thing with transportation and all those stuff like prymaids.. i don't wanna go too deep here.

Correct me if I'm wrong... I recall reading a passage about Altantis that the continent was torn asunder, meaning it went in all directions... it would be possible for all countries with their sides facing the Altantic ocean to have some pieces from Altantis.

The destruction of Altantis didn't happen overnight, I believe... the greater Altantis was made smaller, then made smaller over time... disappearing eventually. That would be logical... but then again, it could be wrong.

There is another interesting read....

In my opinion.. Okay here it goes. As you know we believe Atlantis is out there. I am sure it is buried under water, right?

Same concept what happened with Tsunami....it almost buried islands under water in Asia. I am sure it happened same thing to Atlantis. I may be wrong since it is just a theory.

Maybe, Atlantis actually took off like they did in Stargate: Atlantis. ;)

Yeah, right—and it’s on a collision course with Moonbase Alpha from Space: 1999.

Oh, I forgot to mention—Cylons from Battlestar Galactica are coming to the rescue, though.
