I'm working on my personal website and I'm using simple text for now before I do it with fancy stuff. Right now, I'm using ASCII text and was wondering which you think looks better...

I vote Normal....because when I look at the normal word, I could able to read it but in italic word, I had to focus a little bit deeply so in my opinion if you want serious word then use normal but if its fun and goofy word then use italic...

I vote for Normal.

Italics seem better for when you want to be artisty/creative.

Hmm... three people said, "NORMAL". However, I see 1 vote for ITALICS and 1 vote for NORMAL. I'm puzzled! ;)

Normal is kinda boring. Italic reminds me of the Star Wars movie. :D

I vote "I don't know what the fekking hell you are talking about!" LOL!

I picked Normal. I must admit that Italics look cool to read but it is bit difficult to read.

I think there is something wrong with polls...

I checked the poll thru 'view result' or something feature before voted. It shows 1 for Italic and 4 for Normal. I made a vote and it shows the same number (Normal). It still shows '4'.

It depends:

1. Do you want to emphasize artistic quality, or do you want clear, easy reading?

2. What colors will you use? Contrast? Shading? Bold? Size?

3. All caps are harder to read than upper and lower case combinations.

4. Are you using this style for short headings only, or for headings and text (sentences and paragraphs)?

5. Will there be other graphic elements on the same page as the ASCII text?

I always use completely contrasting colors... either black on white or white on black. I won't be using any other ASCII graphics on the page. I'm just using these ASCII text as bold headers across parts of the page.

I know SQUAT about things like this, Vampy, but color me normal, too. :dunno: I'll leave this up to some of the others on here who actually have a clue about things like this.
