Arkansas School to arm teachers

It's a non binding opinion. Wonder if they will bring action against the school?

Did you read?

McDaniel's opinion is non-binding, so it is up to prosecutors whether or not to bring action against school districts that train and employ teachers and staff as security guards.

It is up to prosecutors.

Well, does it matter whether you own a firearm or not to bear arms?

yes.

if I say you're not allowed to wear a gun in my own household.... that's illegal? am I infringing your rights?

As you may know, there are more female teachers than male teachers at elementary schools. How would they CCW while they dress lightly during hot weathers in May and June?
All the schools here have air conditioning. Most of the teachers end up wearing sweaters and jackets because it's so cold in the rooms.

Even if they are warm I don't know how you expect teachers to dress. They don't dress like they're going to the beach.

There are lots of ways for women to carry a concealed weapon. There are all kinds of form-fitting accessories and holsters now.

There's under the arm, ankle, thigh, bra, waistband, pocket, and small of the back areas, and garments with special compartments.

yes.

Only the government is disallowed from creating an infringement. If it's your private home, that's not a government infringement.

Telling a professional they are not allowed to defend themselves at their place of business is an infringement.

That is what we are talking about - not your private property rights. :cool2: If I knew you would disarm me if I visited your home, I wouldn't visit. I am not compelled to visit your home to make my living and support my family.

Oh, nice so they can stuff it inside their bras for 8 hours 5 days per week. Wouldn't it cause a discomfort to them?
They don't "stuff" them inside their bras. They wear special bras or t-shirts that have a soft holster built in to be comfortable.

Oh, I got it. They can hide it in a gun holder on their thigh covered by a dress. I am trying to imagine... a 60 years old female teacher carries it that way.
Wow, you sure are sexist and ageist!

I'm 62 years old and I don't see anything wrong with a thigh holster if that's someone's preference. Women wearing guns aren't doing it to impress anyone (concealed, remember?).

Nearly all schools in southern states (not VA) get out in May, also I heard about LA school get out in May too, but used in June about few years ago.

The schools in my area are closed in the middle of June but there are summer classes for some students to catch up.

OK, whatever but I oppose teachers to be armed. Hire guards who need jobs.

and they are not compelled to work there if they want to be armed.

correct. I want to make sure Steinhauer is not confused.

Ahem ... you are the one confused. Aren't public schools part of the government?

The high court already allow teachers to make students shut up because they are not protected under freedom of speech.

the government employees are exempted from constitutional rights especially 1A and 2A

If they are a teacher, then yes, they are compelled.
very simple..... they are not compelled to work there... they can choose to work at private schools if they wish to be armed

Not if they were trained and certified to work at public schools. Private schools have different criteria, and a private school has the right to prohibit firearms as it is private property.

Same with government properties - they can ban on guns too. :dunno:
