i have been looking this up for ages and so glad i found somewhere i can ask...so i hope this is the right place to ask (sorry if it isn't)

when someone places their three middle fingers with the forefront of the hand facing fowards and the three fingers pointing down over your head...what does this mean?

thank you so much...any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm trying to think of the sign, but don't recognize it... when you say 'the three fingers pointing down over your head', is that going from the front of your head towards the back, as if you were drawing three stripes on your head (like a football helment)? Where do you see the sign? Are you seeing Deaf people sign them? It's possible it is a "gang" sign not used in American Sign Language..

Let me get this right - I am trying to put a "picture" in my head as to what you are trying to describe. If I'm right - Are you trying to say the sign "Rooster" (which is the thumb on your forehead and first 2 fingers {as in Number 3} and shake it)?

thanks for the replies - i found the picture i have been talking about for you guys to see.

eh? As ASL Professor for 14 years, I only see it being used when decribing a cat - tabby with a 'M' on forehead... nothing else. Hope someone will recognize that 'new' sign because I'm curious, too :)

Umm.. I dont know what it is.. probably his own signature sign.. like Frats/groupies..

if you know what word start with letter.. you can look up on this.. website.

its basic signs... Asl signs

sorry i couldnt help!

I don't think that is a sign, I think it is probably the person just being silly in the picture.

What makes you think it must be sign, I guess it couuuuld be a sign name?

Yeah - it does not look like a sign. Maybe some kind of "secret" code people share. Definitely is not a sign used in ASL.

Yeah i dont think its sign at all, but could be a sign name maybe? Probably someone just being silly.

I don't think it's an individual word sign, per se; he's saying, "Hey, looky here....my third girlfriend!" LOL!

I'm hearing, and my ASL ability is limited to a few basic signs... But, I actually with you that it doesn't LOOK like a sign to me at all. It just looks like someone is being a goofball.

I have never seen an ASL sign made by one person's hand on another person's head. That definitely doesn't follow the "sign spacing" rule. And it would be a very awkward sign to make on your own head.

ok thanks - it was a shame cos he was really nice and i had no idea what he was trying to say to me...but thanks for the help.
