Anyone Else Not Getting Channel 11?? Was Told it in a Dispute

I am not able to get public TV channel 11 , Comcast told me they're in a dispute
with a station. I was not able to understand the woman on the phone .
I did not hear anything on the news about there being any issues. When I tried to put on channel 11 I get channel 12 instead. Crap, I love to watch
channel 11. Comcast does not know when it will be back on.

They're all just a bunch of greedy bastards!

I remember when I lived in an apartment where basic cable was already provided. I could watch most of the basic cable shows such as WGN, USA, TBS, TNT, etc.

Later, they started charging more for those channels.

Again, I remember when I was in Rochester (NY). I was living at a house with a friend for a few months after graduating and before moving back to Texas. We had basic cable and were paying a high fee for it. One day, TimeWarner informed us that they were "upgrading" some channels from basic to standard. That's when we found out that most of our favorite shows were those being upgraded and we ended up with shows no one even watches... basically the "free" channels.

Know how cable companies get away with charging more for channels?

They slowly "upgrade" popular channels to the next "class" while each "class" costs a bit more. As the years go by, more channels are "upgraded" to higher "classes". When there are no more channels in the lowest "class", they simply rename those "classes" again.

For instance, there are 20 channels at the beginning. They call it BASIC for $10 a month.

They then add STANDARD for $15 a month. 5 channels are upgraded from BASIC to STANDARD. Now, BASIC has 15... STANDARD has 20.

They then add PREMIUM for $20 a month. 5 channels are upgraded from BASIC to STANDARD and 5 from STANDARD to PREMIUM. Now, BASIC has 10 channels... STANDARD has 15 channels... PREMIUM has 20 channels.

They then add ULTRA for $25 a month. 5 channels are upgraded from BASIC to STANDARD , 5 from STANDARD to PREMIUM, and 5 from PREMIUM to ULTRA. Now, BASIC is free and has 5 channel... STANDARD has 10 channels... PREMIUM has 15 channels... ULTRA has 20 channels.

Then they decide to upgrade that 5 last channel from BASIC to STANDARD. Now, there's only STANDARD, PREMIUM, and ULTRA.

A year later, they rename all categories. STANDARD is now called BASIC with 10 channels, PREMIUM is now called STANDARD with 15 channels, ULTRA is now called PREMIUM with 20 channels.

The whole cycle repeats again. That's the world of sneaky marketing.

That's the exact reason we now have an expensive antenna and watch free over the air programming!

Channel 11 in NY is what station?

Basically, cable/dish is charging us for regular TV (i.e. ABC, NBC, CBS, etc...) while we can get it for free by using antenna...

There are Channel 11s all over the country so it would have been nice if you said where the Channel 11 you are talking about is in your title. For instance the one in the St. Louis area is an independent station not associated with Viacom. Or referred to Viacom & Direct TV dispute.

I think it coming from New Hampshire of Massachusetts . It a public TV station .

Yeah I know , but I do watch some stations that are only on cable . I had used an antenna but the reception is so poor where in my city an antenna did not really work.

Yes, if you are not right close to the stations you want to receive they are expensive. BUT. . . I, for one, have never had cable etc. for the simple reason that you never finish paying for it and with your own antenna you do!

Yeah, I know what you mean. My local had disputed with one of our local channel but it was resolved in few days. lol Good thing it happened before new season starts!

I had never heard of this happening before with a TV station . I heard of
writers having a walk on Jay Leno . I thought Comcast removed the channel and I was really pissed off.

Wow...I didn't notice and I sometimes watch the channel for Masterpiece. I didn't realize we count 7, 8, 9, 10, 12....what gives?

Yeah I was checking out the TV guide listing on TV and when I tired to see what was on channel 11 I kept getting channel '12' and I did the same as you and only got 7, 8, 9, 10, 12. I was really pissed off as I thought Comcast had removed it and channel 11 is a public TV station and is free. Comcast has already removed channel 55 from my package and replaces it with a history station! Who do you use for cable Comcast or Verizon? I read on line a lot places are not able to get channel 11 or other station as there some kind dispute going . I was told from Comcast channel 11 and some station are having a dispute where we lives. I live not far from you. I hard a hard time understanding the woman I spoke to on the and you know what happen if you tell someone the phone you're HOH,they start YELLING at you.
Comcast does not know when channel 11 will be back in the air. I did not hear anything on the news about , I think there should had been something about it.

What does channel 11 web site say? They usually have their shows on their web site too
