*on break with the baby Hope he sleeps good*
This was in 1988:
when I first adopted my dog Lincoln, He was a stray dog found in Lincoln, R.I. So that's how his name came up like that, and I was told he was about 2-3 years old at the time of adoption night, I was under drugs because I had wisdom tooth pulled out (due of infection they had to do 1 tooth emergency pull out and the rest of wisdom teeth has to wait due of insurance Argh).
Anyway. Lincoln realized that I am deaf when I didn't answer the doorbell buzzer. I only wore hearing aids at the time, but that day I didn't wear my hearing aids, Lincoln came up to me and lick my face I was woken up by him.. few days later he knew that I didn't hear very well, so he would run back and forth between the door and buzzer box.. It took me a while to realized he was telling me someone was at the door... and when the phone rang he would look up to see if I was aware of the phone.. I did NOT teach him but He amazed me that he knew I couldn't hear at the time. I had him for 5 years We had to put him to asleep due of him having a rupture disc (3 places) and a herina disc as well, We were told he is about 12 not 7-8 years old.. The dr could surgery on him but few problem.. his age, his heart (not murmur but i think rythm something) and he can NOT walk for 1 year due of surgery on back of leg etc. Lincoln Refused let my ex boyfriend to carry him around or help him.. If he goes closer to Lincoln He will growl or bite him.. He really did NOT like him at all, I was pregnant at the time and can NOT carry him either.. so to put his pain - no longer pain. and the age and no pain for me to watch him either.. He was one of my best dog I ever had! I also had Virgil and He was great too. with the door.. but not the phone or people calling me lol... virgil was afraid of my ex too! Now we have Jake.. I never trained him because he knew I could hear with my implant. except when I don't have it on I wonder if he knew.. grins..
Yes, some of us can train our own pets because pets do know how to communicate with their owners!
Saline--- Thanks for the link..
DD--- I have seen that link last year I think its cool except there is not much of hearing ear pets center like this one.. We had one in New England but they closed down due of not having funds! I think it was called Red Arces something... too bad about it.. There are not much of pet service in usa.. I think there should be more for other needs in their state too.
