How do you guys feel about Content Management System (CMS) being implemented to AllDeaf? An example can be found here: http://www.opensourcecms.com/

I've thought about this a while ago, but I didn't see how AllDeaf would benefit from a CMS, unless I have deaf-related news to post everyday. If I wanted to do that, I would probably create another website focused on news for the deaf and hard of hearing, but not here.

Please share your thoughts and opinions here. I have already created a simple poll, so please cast your vote. Thanks.
 
This is kind of new to me and I am sure it is to a lot of people. Leaning towards "yes", I am getting the idea but not 100% clear on it. Can you explain a little more what CMS can do? (for the benefit of others who might not understand)

Well, I haven't really seen much deaf-related news lately. If people started posting more here and we saw a need for CMS, then we could implement it later. :thumb:

Err...like what you said, Deaf258...I'm not all that software literate! :lol: I know how to use some stuff on the computer and some softwares, but not those advanced types like C++, html creator, and so forth.
So, you can see now that I'm not able to really decide whether AD will benefit greatly from CMS unless someone explains a bit more in depth in LAYMAN's terms...:P

What is a CMS?

The short answer - a CMS is a Content Management System.

The long answer - a CMS is a system that seperates the content of a web site (the text, images, and so on) from the framework of linking pages together and controlling how the pages appear. In most cases, this is done to make a site easier to maintain than would be the case if it was built exclusively out of hard-coded html pages.m At least, that is the goal.
