Ever notice how people are always returning things that don't work?

Well, they say that 95% of those things actually do work... the problem is that the customers don't bother to read the instructions.

So, do you read the instructions when you buy something new?

I know I do. That's why everything I have has lasted me years. :)

It worked for me. Unless that was a joke, and then I am sorry.

Someone returned a great camera this way, and my guy scored it for only $100 and they go for $250 and up. I looooooooooooooove the camera.

^^ @ deafbajagal

Sometimes manuals are bloomin' difficult to understand ... too technical. Manuals usually aren't written with the consumer in mind ... gibberish and gobbledygook to us.

Yes, my dad and brother actually don't read the manuals when they get something. I am the instruction manual for them. I always read the owners manual, if I'm not sure what to do with them. It is a waste of time when they return something and it actually works, geez!

You should see the line at walmart the day after Christmas,I know that its nothing wrong with most of the things people take back. Some people don't like to read anything.

well, i do read manual book like DVD player, that one is easy. i follow the instruction carefully. sometimes it's complicated
my mom can't follow the instruction. she's not a gadget person. she asks me to do it for her.

My dad usually says that instructions are pointless.

One time, he was trying to use Goo-Gone on a dry erase board that he was cleaning.

He would put it on a rag and then immediately wipe the board quickly. It didn't work well.

I told him to try rubbing the board lightly so that the sticky parts got exposed to Goo-Gone and then wait a few seconds before rubbing it harder to get it off. He did that and it worked perfectly.

He then asked me, "Wow... how did you learn that?"

My response? "Simple. I read the instructions." ;)

I usually don't read the manual, it is more easier for me to see how things works. One time something was wrong with the tractor, I just open the hood up and took a look. Figure out how things were not working properly. I took them apart and got new specific parts and was able to reassemble it back together. It works! This was the first time I used the tractor all my life and just took one look at it and fixed it.

Manual, i feel takes forever and some don't explain clear as it should.

Haha, I love manuals.
Don't ask me why, I just do... I will read manuals for things I don't even have!

Often people return to store and lie that it does not work. So the can refund and end the connection. Dont want to exchange or deal with complaining etc... Just say "It does not work". It a lot easier to do that.

Some people will buy then return in 30 days.

I had a friend that I think did this with Nintendos...
I guess they were flawed in construction and notorious for wearing out, so she would buy another, put the old one in the box, keep the new one, and return old one in new box for refund... or something like that. Haha.

Funny you should ask. Yesterday I got my coo coo clock in the mail. It's a modern one, cheap at $20. I tried to set it. Put it on the hour. No birdie popped out. So that is when I read the one page instructions on how to get the dang bird to coo coo on the hour. I am so not a manual person. I think you have to be patient to read a manual first. I admire them people because they are the one's who help us when we need it.

Another time I saw a guy in my parking deck at work and he started his car w/ his remote keyless entry. I've had my car over a year but never knew how to do this so I asked him how. And I work for one of the big 3!! duh. :laugh2:

I return my HDTV most of time, these really work well but the CC function wasn't quite satisfactory. I even look up on manual. It seem strange anyway.

Since you're already familiar with it, then it's understandable that you don't need a manual.

I'm the same way. If I'm already familiar with it, I don't need to read the manual.

If it's something new or something I've never done before, then I'll read the manual.

These people just rip open the package and start using the product without even glancing at the manual... then return them and say, "Gee... it doesn't work. :("

There should be a new book called "How to Read Owners Manuals for Dummies"
