My rent in SF is $3500 a month. I wanted to buy last year buy could not afford the $8000 mortgage payments. Maybe someday. It's worth it to me, I can't imagine living anywhere else.

If you don't mind me asking....what do you do for work? Secondly $ 3500 monthly rent--what kind of an apartment or townhouse or what?
True however Astoria Oregon has more cloudy days than any other place in the lower 48.
You make more money here than other areas of the country. It's a trade off, I don't own but I really love where I live and feel that I am doing fine just saving money instead of taking on a huge mortgage.
It is a 4 bedroom house with a two car garage. I am self-employed and work with children.
Yep Cape Dissappointment area I think.
Yep--13 miles south of here. Interestingly enough--it would be sunny where I am at and when I go down there--it's cloudy/foggy.
That's a difference in only a few miles away ha. My friend in Bellingham said it has been foggy there for the last 3 weeks, he says it gets foggy very often there in the winters. I saw the fog there when I got there yesterday early evening..and the fog stayed there til around noon today, burned off....sounds like SF in a way, lol.
I bet it was pretty because it can be.
Too bad I didn't get to see Mt. Baker because there was clouds in the way, just a slight glimse on the bottom of the peak.WOW! A 2 car garage in the city of SF?! I'd figure that the space would've been occupied with all those people.

The house is built on top of the garage so there is room in the garage for 2 cars and an in-law apartment if you could get a permit. There are two floors above the garage and the house is attached to the houses on either side. I could rent a parking space for $300 a month but don't want anyone to have access to the house.

COOL! Must be an old house huh?
Not that old. It was build in 1948. Not one of the Victorian houses.
