Hi Everyone, I'm new to the deaf gig, but I'm learning how to adjust. I got a case of A.I.E.D. back in December 2014 and lost hearing in my Left Ear, I had a CI surgery scheduled for Mid April 2015, 2 days prior my Right Ear lost hearing. My ENT was saddened by this information. None the less I went forward with the left implant, I'm now 2 days activated, I find the sound funny and get a kick out of some of my co workers voices. I never knew how much there was to learn about going or becoming deaf and some of the ALD's you need to get along. I've also learned how some can be cruel towards the disability. My hats off to everyone!

I look forward to keeping up the chats.

Welcome. Yes CI is very different from hearing aid, takes a lot of adaptation. Will take several months and probably a dozen mappings at least to get used to the sounds. what you are hearing is normal and standard progessio for CI. Post over in the CI forum with any questions and let us know what device and accessories you have.

Welcome to alldeaf, sign will....(refer to my sig)......'-)
