It's not all bad. I was a marching assistant for the Ohio School for the Blind marching band for a couple of years. The school does involve some visual things, including the classes. But mostly it is a basic school. I was allowed to venture into the Ohio School for the Deaf half of the building...

    Hi, I'm Dave.

:welcome: Dave! I am hearing also, though I don't have hearing loss. I'm sure that the community will be happy to answer any questions you may have. My brother's name is Dave, also. (Well, it's actually David but he goes by Dave as well.)

Judge William Adams beats daughter for using the internet (Video)

It seems I made an error. I listened to it again (just a minute ago) after talking to my step-mother about the video. Now that I pay closer attention I think he's actually saying "I'm going to get another one [belt]."

Moon Shimmering on the Cedar River...

This is something that most people take for granted. Thank you for sharing. :) Hopefully next year I can take a photography class and get my camera. (Or if I get an interview at the Donatos down the street I can save up and get one.) I will definitely try to post a couple pictures up here every...

Judge William Adams beats daughter for using the internet (Video)

If I ever meet this bastard I'll make sure to whip off my belt and beat HIS ass. Yes, William Adams was ordering his daughter to "Bend over the f***ing bed!" Only repeating what was said, I apologize if I offended somebody (even with the censoring). EDIT: I just listened to the entire video...

Welcome to AD. If you need any help getting around, just ask. Though I myself find it rather easy. :) I'm new as well, I just joined a couple days ago.

    Nice to Meet You

Oh of course. *facepalms* I saw that you lived in Vancouver before... why did I ask State PD? lol :) Well either way, good luck to her. And good luck with you trying to persuade her to learn to sign.

    Nice to Meet You

Who does she want to work with? Local PD , State PD, FBI? Criminology is difficult to get into, I understand. Also: thank you. :ty:

Herman Cain Shrugs Off His Anita Hill Joke

Asked by Fox News if he had ever had to pay anyone to resolve harassment claims, Cain responded, "outside of the Restaurant Association, absolutely not." Hm... me thinks something fishy is going on... and I'm not talking about anchovies.

    Think daughter is audist...

That's not necessarily true, Sally. I've been in circumstances where I had to put in ear plugs in order to not overhear things being said (when I was younger at least). Permenantly, no; temporarily, yes. Which is where the "necessarily" comes into play. :cool2: - As far as the situation with...

    Nice to Meet You

Hello, Bottesini. I've had an interest for about 3 years (so since I was 14) and I have yet to find anything else that has peaked interest aside from photography (which I think is more of a hobby than a career choice).

Are deaf kids bullied/harrassed more frequently than hearing kids in mainstream?

As far as I've noticed in my school, it's the other way around. The hearing get harassed more than the HOH and deaf students do.

My Song | Story of a girl stuck between the hearing and Deaf worlds

AJ, I want to personally thank you for sharing this video with us. I probably would have never come across it otherwise. I can clearly see how it won multiple awards (Best Actress/Best Short Film). The story is just so touching and it's something we can all relate to; deaf, HOH, and even...

    Hi all :)

Welcome to AD Krissy. I too know what it feels like to not fit in with anyone because I've been there. However, I still have my hearing and I'm thankful to God everyday for my abilities and for everything that I've been given (sorry if someone here is not of Christian faith). I didn't know much...

    Hey!!

Hey Jerrica, welcome to the community. I myself am new here, am hearing, and learning ASL. I sit mostly with some of the deaf students at my school now, so I try to pick up ASL faster than I try to pick up Spanish. (Because, let's face it, Spanish is a pain in the rump.) =) Send a message my way...

    Our Journey

I can't even begin to understand what it's like to have children with hearing loss, as I don't have a child of my own (and rightly so because I'm only 17), but welcome. I haven't heard of many cases that someone has gotten implants, I know they exist but I've never really heard anything about...

    Nice to Meet You

Hello everyone. :) My name is Aaron (no last name for forums, thanks). I live in the state of Ohio in the United States. I am a hearing high school student interested in learning more about ASL/deaf culture. My career choice at the moment is Psychology. I'm unsure which way I want to go with it...
