do you know what caused you to not hear?

Yeah, sometimes google needs a little help. If you google "EVAS hearing" you will get this site. Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct Syndrome (EVAS) | Vestibular Disorders Association When it was first found in 1978 (I think that was the year) it was called "LVAS" and over the years they have...

do you know what caused you to not hear?

Have those of you who just posted with unknown loss ever been tested for EVAS?

do you know what caused you to not hear?

I'm deaf in one ear and have mild sloping to severe loss in my left. I grew up thinking I was just born this way or I lost some hearing when I fell off a chair and hit my head as a small child. I was finally diagnosed last year (I'm 34) with Enlarged Vestibular Aqueducts (EVAS). It seems to...

    Getting the right adjustment

Same here. If only my audiologist was an Indian or Polish person with a really thick accent, I'd be all set! If I could get my hearing aids adjusted to hear them then surely any situation would be fine! :) You can count my audiologist as someone I wouldn't consider technologically savvy...

    New here--with LVAS / EVAS

It is Enlarged Vestibular Aqueducts Syndrome (also called Large Vestibular Aqueduct syndrome). It is basically an enlarged bony part of the ear that is associated with hearing loss and is thought to be genetic. It is usually found in small kids when they seem to have hearing loss. I grew up...

You got them back though, right? Eventually?

His story gave me a reason to root for the Seahawks last night. Glad they won! :)

Headset solution for MS Lync calls

I'm currently in the same boat. I need to use MS Lync often but I have trouble getting enough volume out of my laptop. So far I've tried some USB Plantronics headsets, but still not enough volume. My next move is to get my ComPilot adjusted a bit more and see if I can use bluetooth to send it...

    Creeped out from your HAs?

Mine don't bother me. Of course I have BTE's in black and they match the part of my glasses that go around my ear. Hardly noticeable -- especially for me. :ty:

Philip Seyour-Hoffman - most underrated actor ever lived, found Dead

This is sad news. He has a few recent movies I haven't gotten around to seeing yet. Any recommendations on his all time best movies that I should go watch?

    Getting the right adjustment

I could have wrote those same words. I also have LVAS and didn't know until last year when I had my first real hearing loss incident. Lost all my hearing in my right ear sometime between birth and 4-5 years old. Likely due to a head injury as well.

    Getting the right adjustment

I have had the same issues. Usually when I am getting adjustments because of a hearing change or new aid, I schedule weekly appt's with the audiologist until we stop finding things to adjust, then making it a month out. This is something I really dislike about HA's today. You would think...

    Got my Phonak Cros today!

I have Phonak BiCROS Q30. They are great and I wear them all the time. How can you tell the direction of sound though? I still haven't been able to do that. Is it because your good ear isn't getting any amplification and you can tell the difference between the hearing aid and natural sounds?

    PM options

I'll reach 5-10 here shortly so I'll let you know what I find out. :) EDIT: It seems like after 10 posts it let me do it. Possible after 5, but I didn't try logging out/logging back in. But now I can send PM's. I also sent the OP in this thread a PM and it let me do it without error...

    PM options

5 or 10 posts sounds more reasonable, I hope that's what it is. If it's 50, then that's just encouraging people to spend a couple days spamming the board with less than helpful posts just to meet the quota.

    New here--with LVAS / EVAS

Hi, Just thought I would introduce myself. I am 34 and have been deaf in my right ear as long as I remember. I had mild loss in my good ear but recently sustained some more damage due to an EVAS incident. I do pretty well with BiCROS aids but figure that eventually I will lose the rest of...
