Hi I was born with hearing loss and got the ci almost 3 month ago. I like it. dont expect that you are gonna hear everything. I heard that people who got mengetitis dont get good benfit out the ci. it just depend on thier age and how long they have been deaf for.

you could have a interpeter use her voice but in slient and sign at the same time. that what I do for myself lipread the interpeter as watch the sign language.

it is hard for me to sign in asl but i am able to understand if someone else sign in asl. I guess it is hard for me cause I have to think to interp the langauge.

I was born too early at 6 months so I had brain bleed which it caused for me to have cerebral palsy and hearing loss. I am just glad Im not mr or blind. I could been worst but I am not. I am very thankful for that.

Just for your information it depend on person hearing loss. some people are not fully deaf like myself I can hear some without hearing aid. I agreed with you they are still deaf but it really depend on person's hearing loss. Lisa
