Vista

Same here. Kewl. (I got it for $5 at RIT. They signed a temporary contract with Microsoft for 1 year. All CDs were $5.) ;)

I got free from Dell when pick XP over Vista.

At times, I feel like the computer industry is the tail wagging the dog.

I'm a devoted fan of a P.C. game, nothing like the computer games younger folks are playing these days. All I need is a computer, a keyboard, and a mouse and I'm set. Everytime they came out with a newer version of the game, I'd find myself running off to the local computer technician to upgrade.

It would seem that the gaming industry equips its staff and developers with the latest technology. They, often, forget that the rest of the world is not as equipped!

Ouch. You're better off getting a new computer designed for Vista, but use XP instead. That will leave you with a lot of free memory to make the games run smoother. ;)

I got recent PC that beat Vista's requirement, there's my tech spec.

Now, all video card from early XP era is 100% legacy because of below than GeForce 6000 and below than ATI Radeon 9600, I got some good memory of early XP era when I was teen. Pentium 4 is closer to be legacy CPU, almost all CPU are more than 1 core now.

Same goes to Mac, more newer games are flavor into Intel over PPC, however PPC is good for daily computer right now, used to be high performance in last few years ago.

I have vista since it was released. At first it headache of its feature. I continued in Classic view for a while. Then last January I attempted to reformat again and reinstall Vista.

This time I made less errors. Vista is not good with Viable.net video program or Hovrs Sign Widget.

Overall, I have found little glitches here and there. Most of the glitches are minor but in long run it causes problems.

I never able to get Sim city 4 to operate again. I missed Sim City 4. Good game to play while on road to kill time.

Also I must uses UAC (user account control) because one of my program refuse to operate until its enabled. So in result, I installed many programs that trigger UAC prompts. UAC tells you what program is "not approved" by Microsoft. Like Logitech Updater will prompt UAC.

So think ahead of what program you needed. If you are looking to play game. Stay in XP. If you are just want go for look, Vista will do. If you checking an email and view blogs and Internet, vista will do.

Videophone webcam, recommend XP to avoid the problems. Make sure your RAM exceeded 2 GB, but recommend 3 GB RAM or more to avoid headache. If 1 GB-2GB, its sluggish. Need more RAM to operate Vista than XP.

1 GB RAM XP = 2 GB RAM on Vista for operating system. Its doubled. Go for 3 gb and you will never complain.

Is Vista better now than it was last year? I've heard there is now a Service Pack for the Vista OS, and that it fixes a lot of the bugs and issues that Vista had. My dad's going to buy a new computer for me (it's on clearance, and he says it's a really powerful computer). I've been very iffy about Vista, and still am. I'll for sure be doing some more research on Vista when I get home later, but right now, if I can get feedback from any of you that use Vista... that'd be great. I really do need a new computer.. my current one is 2 years old, but has 512 MB RAM and 40 GB hard drive... I'd like a computer with more than 1 GB RAM, and the new one has 3 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive (Hewlett Packard), and my dad has a good idea of what I want in a computer, and of what I use the computer for.

You can upgrade RAM and Windows Vista or 7 in future.

I've received word from several programs that I've been using not to download for Vista Service Pack 2 and XP Service Pack 3. These programs, I need, and will heed the call.

I'll be getting a new computer soon . . . and backing up all my files religiously, just the same.

It is not unusual for a new OS or program to have bugs for serious users (or the "computer literate"). Two years seems to be the acceptable benchmark for many.

No, it not Vista Service Pack 2. it SP 1 is now. But will do SP 2 later. Not know when. Window XP SP 3 is now! :)

The future is going to be Window 7!

Don't be confused, If I said you don't care about performance, that means you aren't gamer, video edit, file transfer and other need high performance stuff.

Vista is good for daily computer use, such as email, internet and word processing.

Ah! I never thought that it's game, video, etc. you referring to. Yes, you are right that I do not understand anything about computer games, etc. I am not freak about computer games... :giggle: I saw my boys use computer games on vista... :dunno: I will ask them for their view over games between vista and PX. I use artwork on computer a lot, not games, videomaker, etc. I am satisfy with XP and stick till it end.... :)

Oh yes, I forget to say something about computer "Apple"... Most friends said that "Apple" is the best quality than other computers?????????

We bought Vista for my both sons as 2nd computer at few weeks ago. I noticed that Vista is more comfortable and easy than XP. My both sons love vista more than XP.
Yeah, Me either, I like vista much more than XP..
