It was in 1999, when I was only 11 years old (I was wearing NY Yankees baseball hat, large glasses, pale trousers and brown shoes), I went to visit the university with my parents and my sister.

It was sometime after 9th February, I believe it is later that week. It was the day, I took the tour with Brain Kelson and a ASL interpreter, in the name of Jan.....and after that, my father, my sister and I was standing in a path in the middle of the univeristy area -- (near the caferia I think) my mother was about to take a photo of us, but a young lady stopped by and was talking to us (I had to communicate in ASL, which I knew a bit back then, but I know a lot now -- due to a friend who knows a lot of ASL, we communicate each other instead of AUSLAN ) I forgot her name, she said her name and talked about australia or something similar.

But to this thread I am writing, I just wanted to ask if any of you AD'ers know these people or recall this ....I would love to hear from them as it has been 9 years since! Do let me know

EDIT: Also, this story about going to the U.S.A has been mentioned on deafchat.com in early 1999 and after the trip in late 99 to early 2000's. I have some photos, but will bring it up here later in few days.

I wasnt sure if I did see u or not cuz I was in MSSD in 1999

I was student at that time. Brian Kelson sounds familiar. What does he look like?

He was a staff at the Gallaudet University, I met him at the first place which was the administrators office. He is dark-colored skin, and a very nice man, who took us to a tour around the univeristy. And has dark hair too.

Ah sorry I can't help you. There s too many names for me to remember when I spend my ug years at gally. So you were not convinced enough to enroll gally?

I was convinced few times, but the problem is, I don't live in the U.S...unfortunately. And the money is another issue.

So you end up going to college in Australia? Gallaudet may is not the best college in US, neverthless Gallaudet is very special place for deaf and hoh people. It's pity that you did get the chance.

Agreed. Cocaine is powerful drug. :smoking:

Well, it doesn't matter, I might end up there in few years time, maybe not. I am employed full time anyway :D

Hey Jclarke... good news I found Jean's contact info - she still works at Gallaudet! Sorry, no Briak Kelson listed, but I found one possibly the same one traced to Stockton, California, USA.

Awesome! I am just wondering if it is possible if you could contact them to find out if I could say hello via email or something? PM me if necessary. Thanks, Brian!

If you will go to RID.org and click on where it says "Find an Interpreter/Member" type her surname in and you should get her contact/E-mail info. Let me know if you need help. :)

EDITED: If you get the Certificate Error/Security error, just disregard it and keep going.

Excellent, found it. Thanks, but what about Brian Kelson. How did you track up to california?

Anytime, JClarke. I used Peoplefinders.com (but they aren't meant to be used as a reliable source.) Is this Brian you knew a black man?

Looks like we found him. He works at the California School for the Deaf Fremont (CSDF) (Fremont is located just outside of San Francisco.)

Here is his picture: Brian Kelson

Independent Living Skills (no contact info :()

What I would suggest you do another thread to catch CSDF students/staff/alumnus' attention. I am sure they will let Brian know you are trying to locate him. :)
