LONDON, Ky. (Nov. 8) - A woman has died after being bitten by a snake at a Kentucky church that people say practices serpent handling.

The Lexington Herald-Leader says 48-year-old Linda Long was bitten Sunday at East London Holiness Church and died at a hospital about four hours after being bitten.

A sheriff's official says Long said she was bitten by a snake at her church.

Handling reptiles as part of religious services is illegal in Kentucky, and police said they had not received any reports of snake handling at the church.

Yes, I heard it before many times. It very digusted so much! I found out that I studies it. They are very STUPID!!! What they studies and followed from Paul. Paul had an accident with snake. I not agreed other church take snakes and test faith Lord! It not right! It called abused phys.... . God not want hurt people. I not accepted their doctrine... It not only one KY, too Tenn, VA, WV and few other states now. I hate snakes and I won't and test them no way!!!

That belief is a bunch of bullshit. :roll:
 
It is very common hearing about this and it is mostly in the Eastern Kentucky area along with West Virginia and Tennessee. They believe that if you're bitten by a snake, (no matter how many time you get bitten) you are repenting your sin. I know it's crazy and I wouldn't do that myself. I know of a deaf guy who believed in that kind of things and he was telling me a little bit about his religion and belief. The more I learned about it, the more crazier I think they have became. It's just not for me.
 
that is crazy.. i dont believe in those things. its best to leave snakes out of church, period.
 
I have heard that several times . These are false doctrine and even the Lord says " Not to tempt the Lord God Almighty". this is why we have to becareful of who teaches. It is horrific things to do. Even misinterpreted. Just like the time of Jesus was tempted by Satan and even Satan quote scriptures to manipulate and misrepresent the Scriptures.

Christlovedeaf, and what is TRUE doctrine? How can you prove something another Christian or another deomonation, believes to be true or false? There are verses in the Bible that can support ALMOST every and any belief! From those people who believe that THEY are the ONLY TRUE BELIEVERS doing exactly what God wants, to libral hippy deonominations, to deonominations where they think that Jews are Satan's enemies, and that blacks and other minrorties are mud races.........

Its not a denominations issues, its individual who preach or teach. Like in the old days, some thinking God doesn't approves blacks. And misuses as about interrace. If you notice in Samaria, where the woman met Jesus at the well, the place where jews refuse to go into that town. And misquote about the snake, what been mentioned above about Paul. I'm very cautious one how they teach. The problem, is many follow the teachers instead for them to examine deeper in the Word. Like healing for example. I believe in healing, but not how Benny Hinn teaches. Its varies. Is that mean they are not christians? No. Christian does not mean depend what church you go, it's a person who have been born again ( received Christ as his/her Savior- also call regenerate) it doesn't matter where you go to church, like Reba and I are in different denominations and we believe the same, we are brother and sister in the Lord. Bec we believe we must be born again. Inspite of what church name, we should treat each other like brothers and sisters in the Lord.
 
This is :crazy: to have a snake in a church. What's next? anaconda? :lol:
 
I heard about that a long time ago. Those people have passed on those beliefs about snake handling for generations. Ive seen it once on 20/20 tv show years ago and I thought that was nuts.

Some people still believe that. Like old school (Primative) Baptists and Christian Identity folks. Religion was why there was all that shit about segregation etc. B/c a lot of people believed that blacks weren't as equal as whites.
 
That's stupid thing to do, bringing snakes. Snakes are just animal...and If I am looking through their viewpoint (which I don't believe in those things) : I would tell them that you don't even want to mess with devil, That's the Lord's job, not ours.
