Helpful ideas of how to stop the bleeding?...

Last week when I was working, I end up cutting my finger with a knife while I was chopping up some green peppers, I couldn't get it to stop bleeding, so my dad told me to put ice on the wound with a wash rag and it will stop the bleeding, but it didn't work so I knew the wound was deep enough, possibly needing some stiches, there was a booth next to our tent where two chinese men were selling chinese foods, one of the man came up to me and asked me what happened to my finger, as I explain to him what had happened, he did looked at it and said to break a cigarette and put tobacco on it, then banaged it, at first I was looking at him with a strange look on my face, like what??...You want me to burn it? he shook his head and said no, then he asked me to give him a cigarette, so I did, he broke the cigarette in half and took the tabacoo out of it, and put it on my finger where the wound was at, and told me to put a band-aid on it, it will stop the bleeding, I thought it was so weird but I did what he asked me to do, when I did that, it stopped the bleeding and then after I finished working that night, I took the band-aid off and saw that it looked much better and hasn't bled since, ....That was really quite amazing!! I did also cleaned the wound real good so it wouldn't get infected.

Someone else had told me by using syrup also helps stop the bleeding.
Has anyone here have heard anything weird about how to stop certain bleeding from small cuts and scrapes?
 
Chinese people are really amazing and interesting. When you told me what he did, I was like you gotta be kidding me?! :giggle:
 
Intersting what ^Angel^'s says hmm wow.

Mine when it not stop bleed so I use water first then take soap and take towel paper or toilet paper to hold for a while then done and put band-aid that it :) .. but wow from Chinese do that new to me :) :eek3:
 
Next time...ask VAMP, he would suck ur blood out, Angel haha so you won't worry about the bleed part.

Wow, that's amazing that chinesse men are there! They are good at "heal" stuffs up like Native American people do...

But I could ask my family about that part because they might know how to stop it

Haha very cute, I don't think I want Vampy sucking ALL of my blood out but I don't think Cheri would mind him doing that to her...

wow intersting certianly better than my way because its much more painful i just get an hotsteel like hot knife or something then press it against the wound or cuts and let it burn it ll fuse the skin together painful as hell yes but it stop the bleeding instantly afterewards i just put rubbing alchol on it to kill germs
 
it is really interested about chinese guys knowing stuff about stopping blood
 
Whoa... Amanzing Chinese guy who help you and quick heal to stop the bleeding on your finger! Next time cut your finger again! So then you can ask Chinese guy gimme me free chinese foods pretty please!

Truly so many different myth stories how works to prevent stop the bleeding more and get sumth'n kind of imagation to help stop the bleeding!

The Chinese are quite adept when it comes to many various forms of medical remedies...some so strange and far-out! Although, it's interesting that some of these remedies works! Interesting thread--

there is another tip to stop the bleeding. put the flour on the cut wound. yes it does work! I learned this from my mom. Flour act like a glue so thats why it will stop from it bleeding out.

I have heard of the tobacco but frankly i dont like the idea of nicotene coming in my blood stream. LOL it prolly will make me nauseated! heh..
 
Interesting solution, Angel; I'm glad he didn't also offer to "smoke" your finger, too. Lol!

me too. I didnt know chinese have alot of ways to heal sick and get the wounds well ? interesting.... :)
 
Thats one hell of a trick, although I don't think I'd waste one of my cigarettes to do that..LoL Cuts like that, they never seem to stop bleeding I know. But do eventually. I normally use Peroxide & apply pressure for a while. Still that was an amazing story though, thanks for sharing:ty:

angel, you said when you used wash rag and wrapped it and didn't stop bleeding. Was that because you didn't hold your finger up above your head?

for example you apply bandage to your wound on finger then rest your hand on counter. that won't work because you are still pumping bloods to your finger since it is below your shoulder. so your finger need to be held up higher so it will slow down the flow and lessen bleeding. Also, applying pressure to the finger below where the wound is to stem the flow.

as for tobacco, that's not unheard of. but is a "mistake" to use according to this: http://www.kcfirstaid.com/images/first_aid_myths_mistakes.pdf
But I am thinking that it just act like a gauze pad to absorb the blood and at the same time stop the bleeding. It does not do anything special. (check the article)

*shrug* but as always (my boy scout experience) is to apply pressure below the wound when holding finger up above your shoulder level. Of course after cleaning the cut and dressing it.
 
as i have seen,, some people use crazy Glue to close the wounds and im familar with the tobbaco method and yall can even use and chew tobbacos to put on ur bumblebee bites IT will work and heal ..
