Bigoted white people used the term "you people" when then referred to black people in a deragatory way. It meant they didn't view the black person as an individual but as a faceless blur in a black crowd.

It is equally bigoted and deragatory to use the term "you people" against white people, Christians, Jews, Asians, etc. It means a person is lumping all the people of one race, nationality or religion into one stereotyped pile.

Likewise, the very 'words' that came out of the officier's mouth and yours...it may exhibited the freedom of speech, although, at the same time, both of you 'respected' one another--meaning not resorting to 'violence' such as hitting upon one another, then obviously chaos would have been everywhere if that had happened. That's one view of 'respect'...another view of 'respect' is to respect the ideals/opinions of others even if you or anyone else don't believe/agree with it...that's where Alldeaf.com stands on. In turn, they are to respect your own opinions/thoughts likewise. We all can do this without resorting to name-calling, cussing one out, etc., no matter what the topic (and opinions/thoughts of others) is...like I've stated before, it's much easier to refrain from posting if harsh comments is the only thing that will be posted, in other words, skip it (the thread).

Also, whatever the situation you were involved with yesterday, just hope all's well and ok now.

It was mistranslated to death, it has many many many interpretations........and there are constant arguments over what the heck God wants. Do you not think that God would have made it clear to EVERYONE what exactly it is that He wants us to do? Yet, we have all these arguments over dancing, headcoverings, race, speaking in tongues, and stuff like that. Do you not think that if what was in the Bible was completely obvious, with no real way to disoprove it there'd be only one way of following God, and there wouldn't be atheists and dissenters out there.

If you don't believe what Jesus said about Himself in His own book, the Bible, then what would convince you to believe other books written about Jesus by third parties who are only humans? If you can't trust the Bible, how can you trust extra-biblical sources?

The reason people don't agree about God is the fault of people, not God. People have their own biases and agendas, and they try to fit God's viewpoint into their's. People let their own prejudices, experiences, and feelings shape their interpretations of the Bible. That's the problem. God spoke clearly thru His Word but our human hearts and minds cloud and twist our reception of His Word.

My post was apparently mis-understood as I have received several private messages about it. I will talk my point again and hope people understand.

Somebody comes into the Religious forums and posts what they feel about Christ and that this video explains how they feel. Instead of discussing why people feel the way they do about the video, somebody comes along saying Fuck the christians. It turns into a christian bashing and takes away from the point of the person who posted it.

If you do not believe in god and have nothing to contribute, why post in that thread? If you want to make your argument about why you dont believe and think that christians are full of crap, then make a thread about it and discuss it instead of trashing threads where other people say they believe in god.

The reason I made the point to the Gay/Lesbian forum is because it happens too. Let gays and Lesbians discuss their topics in that forum. If it is something you disagree with, there is no point in trashing every thread in there about how the lifestyle is wrong. If you dont agree with the lifestyle, then start a thread about it instead of trashing others threads who are trying to have a discussion about an issue.

Well, I don't approve "holier than thou" attitude either. But that doesn't driven my faith away from Christ. Jesus is the only Door to The Father. But there are many churches have some of legalistic. But in some degree is good, but many churches going overboard. Like you mentioned speaking in tongues. Very few are genuine, bec that's their gifts. Some churches does say if you don't speak in tongues, you are not saved, there is nowhere in the Bible it says that. But the day of the Pentecost, is where today missing the point. Paul sent the messages about them, and have rule about them. Paul said not everyone have that gifts, and Paul said also it should have one person at a time with intepreter, not all at once, as he described that God isn't a confusion meaning al at once is confusing. Also Paul said, if I speak in tongues, but no love, then I'm nothing but crashing cymbals or just noises. Some judges by dresses. Now, we need a common sense about how we dress, but God looks at the hearts than outward appearances. The key is not worry about them, God wants you personally as much He wants them. Each of us is human and have different weaknesses, but God will reveal our own failure and help you thru it as much He does them. Sadly, many christians think they honor God, but there is responsibilities how we treat others. Yes, have to have a appropriate judgement, but sadly, many taking it too extreme.
