flea problem, need help

Heath, you give very crappy advice on everything. Please stop giving out advice.

No , not everything and who are you to tell me to stop giving advice. That girl has no money until September and I am trying to help her with something that I have done before and it worked. I had forgotten about that then I remembered that so I let her know about it.

Vacuum all your couches, carpets, beds, all your furniture, and wash your bed sheets, blankets, your and your boyfriend's clothes, curtains, etc. I know it is a pain in the ass but if you want the fleas to be gone for good you will need to do all that.

Sound like going thru like if you had a lice. :Ohno: I know it is not lice but flea but it feel like it.

Then be a real friend and give her $5.00 to go to the store to get something for her cat so she does not have to wait until Sept. and if she asks to pay back the $5.00, just tell her to keep it and tell her to go buy some cat food for her cat. God Bless !!!!!

You obviously know NOTHING about our friendship. You have no idea what the both of us have gone through, you know nothing!

I never asked anything and I just said be a real friend and give her $5.00 and you get so downright hostile and all worked up. I just said be a real friend, give her $5.00 to help her and if she offers to pay it back say no, you will need the money for cat food. That was all.

Chew a really big ball of gum and then when you go through the cat's fur, take a small piece of gum then touch the flea just enough to stick the flea on the gum then toss the flea gum in the toilet or in a water bowl. The most important thing is to not let the cat's fur stick to the gum. Spread the cat's fur really flat so you can see the fur and the gum won't really touch the fur, just gets the flea stuck to the gum. It does work. You gotta improvise, adapt and overcome. Hope that helps .....
You can't be for real... That is the most insane thing I have ever heard. The first time you touch the gum to the cats hair it will stick... Chew some gum and stick it in your hair... Let me know how that turns out for ya.

You did not read the instructions very clearly. I said keep the cat's fur flat and do not have the gum touch the hair, have the gum touch the flea. How much more clear can I be than that ????

Hey go easy on heath... I actually tried his advice and he is trying to help which is something I do appeciate. He at least understand that I don't have money till sept heh. Gums one I haven't tried though cuz its too messy but instead I used tape and it DOES work so thank u heath for the idea.

And I also used everyone s advice including water in bowl and liebling's and I certainly found 5 fleas in water bowl near couch. I just wonder if they are attracted to honey so I set one just to see. Nothing yet though. I cannot buy flea comb but luckily next door had one and she also gave me flea powder but that makes me nervous cuz of so many warnings on it. It said to put on animal s body and rubs it in but do not allow the powder to get in ears, eyes, or MOUTH.... Cats licks themselves to groom so I'm nervous abt that.

Thank everyone for ur suggestions too

I also gave the cats another bath this time I made them stay under water with just head above water for over 10 min.... Pain in ass lol. It does help reduce fleas but the cats still itches. I hoped its just a bite that been there before I put them in bath not new bite.

I will try garlic powder since it won't hurt cats tonight and see what happens. I also will lock the cats up in a room and use flea powder on couches.

Btw carpet was brand new and no body used this apt for long time so that means no free flea spray (damnnit) certainly good idea there though

Please no bash on other people for any "stupid" suggestions. I appeciate every idea there is and I will try every single of them within reason that is. I certainly will not shave them lol. And I will not do anything that will hurt my babies.

Tmw ill vacuum everything as much as I can apt is still pretty empty so no problem there hehe its the clothes that is a plm we have to pay for laundry *doh* (we have to leave our perfectly good washer and dryer behind)

Keep them coming guys

Appeciate this!!

Do I have $5? No. I'm pretty much broke til September too as well. I'm sure that SpiceHD have already bought a big bag of cat food to last her til September, like I did for my cats! So, chill.

Uhm... I did read the instructions but they are un-realistic. The fleas will most likely be at the skin level and how the hell are you gonna get the flea without touching the hair?

She is correct I certainly did bought a big cat food bag cuz I knew I would be broke on aug 3rd. I bought everything that was neccessary and I had a list so I thought I was well prepared... Plentiful of food, plentiful of kool aid, litter, cat food, everything even changes for laundry. I did not predict fleas though and if I have I certainly would have bought them when I had money.

And yes we r friends in real life and she would help me when she can but she's as broke as I am since she moved recently too herself. Go easy on each other ok?

There's no stupid suggestions or advice here unless it involves in hurting the cats then yes its stupid and cruel but if not then its not stupid alright?

Call the vet or e-mail the vet on how to put your cat to sleep with medicine then you can give your cat a bath so she is not a little tiger fighter and dry your cat then lay the cat down in a nice and warm spot with blankets wrapped around the cat and let the cat sleep until the cat wakes up then the cat will be very hungry and want to go outside to the bathroom then come back and meow for some cat food :) :thumb:

This shouldn't even be attempted unless done by a licensed vet. Some cats are allergic to the anesthetic, and you can actually kill the animal if you don't know what you're doing . It's NOT a simple matter of "giving them a shot, and knocking them out." The vet also provides oxygen for the cat while it's asleep, and can also breathe for the cat via machine, if necessary. This is something the average lay person SHOULD NOT try at home!!!

This is why many vets require a blood work from your cat/dog before surgery to make sure they are not allergic to the anesthesa that they are going to be using for surgery. When one of my cats had to have surgery to remove mammary tumors a few years ago, they said they must do blood test to check and luckily she is not allergic so we were able to have the surgery done and my cat is doing VERY WELL today. :)

Well I didn't use gum cuz its too sticky and will hurt cats more even if its flat however I did use tape instead (paper tape) it certainly did work I parted the fur till skin was visible and flea crawls out ... Tape grabs the flea very easily and it also pull less fur than gum would have. So u see heath had right idea just wrong item to use.

Okay cool , Thank you SpiceHD and glad to see everything has been resolved and Lucia, please go easy on me. :D

Actually, there are several medications out there that I'm aware of that will help make a pet sleepy, their uses is for a variety of reasons. For instance, someone I knew had a dog that was very frightful of thunderstorms, giving such meds greatly helped calmed the dog through the storm. That is something that can be checked with a vet and being able to explain the need for it as well. ;)

Yeah...my dog get car sick! She hates going for LONG ride...she don't mind short ride. Vet told me to give her one tablet of children Benyreal (sp) (DO NOT GET GRAPE FLAVOR! GRAPES are bad for dogs! But not sure for cat)

It seemed work! So I kept that in my mind :)

I did CALLED vet before I went ahead.
