What did you learn today? Part II

I learned that when male honeybees mate, their private parts explode and they die. During the queen's nuptial flight, she will mate with about a dozen partners and leave a trail of dead bees without private parts in her wake. Queen bees can select the sex of their off springs.

I learned that most of the dust in a home comes from dead skin. Ewww !!

(I better start sloughing off my dead skin now.)

yep. that's what I tell people. we shed millions of dead skins everyday. that's how dogs can track us.

Dead skin cells...and that's why we should change our bed sheets weekly or 2x a week. I spray my sheets with alcohol inbetween sheet changes....let it air out before finishing making up the bed(s). Not sure if it helps tho'...but I do feel much fresher when going to bed.

I just saw an article not too long ago too that said leaving your bed "messy" is better than making your bed. If you make your bed the tiny mites will make a home under there and procreate. For one I'm doing something right! lol. How true it is I don't know seeing as for everything out there there is almost always an opposite view on it.

will see if I can find that article.

the best way to do it is vacuuming. a very high quality strong one that is best suggested for people with allergy.

spraying with alcohol is fine but your bed is still filled with dead skins and dead/live mites. gotta vacuum that up!

With 7 people living in my house, I can't keep up with the dusting!!!!!!

That is a lot of people. I hope they help you out with house chores? I know there's the hubby and kids, but you have roommates too, right?

My fried zucchini didn't come out quite how I wanted them. I might have to experiment with garlic and other spices to get them awesome!

I learned how to upgrade my MacBookPro from Lion to El Capitan. Done! So far, so good.

Hubby and roommate do. Kids, we have to nag nag nag at them. Even my adult daughter gets nagged at too. Not only that..their friends come over constantly.

Ooh! Good luck! If anything, let me know how you do with El Capitan (I won't use the name my father has given it lol). Am curious about other users besides the faceless posts I see on the internet and their experiences.

Just checked. I have El Capitan on my Macbook Air. Haven't noticed any difference myself, but that's not saying much. I doubt I was aware of most of the features of whatever the original OS was on this when I got it.

wow- so far you are lucky. :)

Dad has been having issues with trying to do his nightly back up. The Hitachi drive he had USED to work fine with Time Machine and whatever OS he had before (before Maverick). Now Time Machine either won't do the back up or it looks like it's taking forever (at one point something like 177 days?!). Since he bought a MyBook very recently, so far it is working (though I've read some horror stories about Western Digital not playing nicely with El Capitan). This is the first time I've seen him wanting to open the window and toss the machine out the second floor window in about 5 years.

Haven't done much with it yet. My Safari browser seems to be working fine. The appearance of some things is different but not bothersome.

I wasn't able to get all the features because I have a 2010 model.

Oh good on the Safari. Dad was having issues with Safari and has since switched to FireFox (I was the one who put FF there since I use it lol).
