My Activation

Mike, sorry you are having to deal with all of this. They need to listen to YOU!!!! My magnet has always been one of the strongest ones. With that, you can twist the magnet to make it closer or further away from your scalp. You definitely need to contact Cochlear and tell them you will NOT use their product on your next CI surgery unless they get this solved NOW. How far is your Audi from home? If close enough, I would drive there and not leave until they give you a stronger magnet.

When I needed help with my CI....I was able to contact Cochlear online and they immediately where online with me. If your Audi won't listen, have the Cochlear Rep meet you at your Audis office.

This is so not fair to you. You know the CI works great, you're having great success....only the magnet is holding you back.

I really hope you can get this settled ASAP. Please keep us informed on what steps you take next. I wish I lived closer, I would let you try my magnet and see if it helps.

well started again, if I press on the coil its fine, I think its the magnet is too weak, so i will have them test everything when I go to my next mapping. I keep telling them the magnet is too weak (basic magnet) where everyone else I know have #4 and 5... mine is a 2. and it barely hangs on. They are concerned with breaking down the skin, Im concerned with the damn thing staying on... just a light bump wit fingers it falls off and it shouldnt do that. Im about to raise hell if this woman doesnt listen to me when i go back and find a new audi.

I think I'm on a #4 magnet, my audiologist started with #3 and it barely stayed on so she swamped the magnets out on the first day. She did tell me to keep an eye on the skin to make sure it's okay. So far everything is fine.

Sonocativo is just so hard-headed that nothing sticks. ;)

^^^ I was gonna say something similar, like maybe it got lost in there somewhere. ;)

Sounds like she definitely needs to get you the stronger magnet.

Well, I am sitting in a gown, stockings and ready to go in soon. Doc is finishing up a patient now.

Hope the surgery went well and you have a quick recovery.

Did they fix the magnet issue yet?

Didn't know you were a wrestler. ;)
LOL wrestling with the sheets maybe?
Had a good deal of pain last night, took my pain meds heavily, so didnt sleep well either, Id doze off what seemed like 3 hours went by but when I looked at the clock only 30 minutes has passed. Im not tired although I got up at 5am, hopefiully Ill sleep well tonight.

I have a feeling my daughter will not have trouble sleeping. She sleeps like a log, and you need a nuclear war to wake her up.

She goes under tomorrow.

Just remember to have her sleep with head elevated like in a recliner if you can.

Best of luck to your family.

Congrats home boy ... with you having the 2nd surgery and a couple others talking about it is making me think about getting my right ear implanted too :hmm:[/QUOT\

Hey Scott, look into it, we could be surgery buddies.

I see my CI surgeon tomorrow to discuss getting my other ear implanted. I have the N5 right now, so next I would get the N6. They give you two processor so I can replace the CI I have currently with the N6.

I'm pretty nervous about the whole thing, but excited at the same time.

Wonder if my Audi can let me test a N6 to see if I can notice a difference.

I couldn't believe how much the mic covers cost. $34 for those tiny tiny little pieces of plastic. They probably cost them a couple cents to make them.

Share a hospital room after surgery and race wheelchairs around the corridors? We'd probably get into trouble huh? :laugh2:

I really need to go back for a mapping haven't been in about 3 years the audi that went through the CI process with me and was even there to test it during surgery moved away and I never went back to the other girl she recommended.

The packaging for those mic covers probably cost as much as the covers themselves I think it was $40 last time I ordered a pack from Cochlear.
