Tom Menino, Boston's longest-serving mayor, dies at 71

He was not my mayor but I sure wish he had been . I was going to post this too .
 
I remember how he forced himself out of his sick bed to go before the people after the Marathon bombing. :(

He just had surgery on his foot and the doctors did not want to stand on his legs but said he to had to this to show that Boston is Strong . he refuses pain meds too. People been telling stores about how he helped them with tears in their eyes. I sure wish we had a mayor like this in my city.

Looking back, he was pretty sick even at that point.

What made him good was that he ONLY wanted to be the mayor.

I've heard stories of him calling the Boston Public Works department, on a Friday afternoon, to go fix street light. Once, he actually stopped building permits for the entire city until pot holes in a street got fixed(not that it solved all road problems).
