nothing not hungery

altho this bloody cat driving me nuts he not careful he be roasted for supper

Family having what was planned for last night, ham, pasta and corn. Me, nothing as I am just too angry. Will have something later if I calm down.

Gluten free toast with natural peanut butter and St Dalfour pomegranate/raspberry conserve, small baked potato.

And a smoothie made with frozen sugar free mixed berries, cup of skim milk, half cup of chocolate ice cream and malt powder. It actually comes close to an ice cream shop malt, but it's healthy!

Didn't feel like cooking...fixed turkey, cheese, lettuce & tomato sandwiches on wheat bread, chips on the side...ate 2.

Pretty much the same. Turkey sandwich, baked potato, and refrigerated cookie dough cookie.

hhhhmmmmm............ several possibilities -

1. you're cooking it on pan too long that it dried out
2. you're not cooking it hot enough and quick enough
3. the pan you're using is no good
4. the steak was probably too cold when you cook it

you should try this -
1. salt and season it and leave it out on table for like 30+ min (1 hr max) to let its core temperature get warmer.

2. heat up your pan and make sure the heat is spread out evenly. please don't get a cheap pan because it gets warped easily. if your pan is wobbling on flat surface... get rid of it. it's useless.

3. high heat high heat high heat!!!!! cook it hot and quick! this should take you up to 15 min to cook a steak. btw - I don't mean like maximum heat. just little bit above half but it's hot enough.

4. when you're done cooking... put it on plate and let it cool for like 15-20 min so that the juice will stay inside the meat as you cut it and will spill out inside your mouth. eating it right away after cooking... you will see tons of juice spilling out on plate as you cut it... what a waste!!!!!

5. while cooking steak and everything's all good... but if you see some area that is kinda raw because sometimes the steak get warped and that area doesn't touch the pan so it's ok to pick up your steak with tongue and press it against pan to cook it.

your steak should be less than 1" thick. any thicker.... it's probably best to do pan + oven method. grill is the best for this though.

few questions for you -
1. what kind of pan are you using? stainless steel? non-stick flat? non-stick dimple? iron? cheap one (half steel, half aluminum)?
2. what kind of stove? gas or electric?
3. what kind of steak do you buy? and how thick?

Sorry I just found out you quoted my post today. Thanks for replying. Good suggestions! I will try it out. I haven't cooked steak in ages. Lately if I have taste for steak, I go out. But now I certainly will try your suggestions.

I was using stainless steel pan on an electric stove. I've bought 1 inch Rib-eye steaks, sometimes T-bone.

That Gordon Ramsay video was interesting. I do watch his shows.

same here. stainless steel pan and electric stove.

Gonna try ur method too...We love steak and my middle son loves to cook, so he usually did the Steaks.

I do mine by thawing in the microwave (buy a number on sale and freeze) then cook in a small cast iron grill pan on an electric stove.

I do preheat the pan to medium high. Blot the meat to remove moisture, spray the meat with olive oil pan spray on both sides, put salt & pepper on both sides and then into the grill pan. Do not be in a hurry to turn as leaving it helps to keep it from sticking. How long on each side varies by how thick it is.

Last night I went to Shabbat services and saw my folks, had a good time - for dinner before services had oatmeal with some nuts and soy milk

Still trying to decide. Planning to go out. Just can't decide where.
