What some people will do for revenge?

Early this morning, a friend of mine lied to me about something, and he brought that on himself, and I told him he needed to learn not to lie to people.

More than 8 hours later, I start getting e-mails from here saying someone is attempting to log into my account-- I have eight of these (That's 40 attempts to get in here), and I am gonna keep them as evidence to show to someone. Now, the only reason I know who it is because he had prior access to my MiFi, something I regret to this day. I thought turning it off and switching wirelesses would do the trick, but for some reason I got logged out, and I had to reset my password (Probably for security reasons; I have no clue), and I made that stronger than my old one. Right after I leave the house, the 6th alert pops up, and since I got back, I hadn't seen one since.

Now.... my question is, do you ever wonder what people will do for revenge? He's angry; I can understand that, but this is going too far. He's obviously not aware that hijacking an account is a federal felony, and I'm keeping an eye on my e-mail.

Wait a second, just to be clear, you think it's a federal felony for this guy to log onto your alldeaf account?

He sure as the heck doesn't have my permission, so therefore, it's called hacking and/or hijacking an account, which is a felony, and depending on what the police say (no action taken yet), it could be.

is it a good time to call the police station?????

Not yet. I want to consult some people before I make the decision to charge him. I do not take these kinds of decisions lightly; they require careful discussion, and making sure that things will work out.

He just tried again now. I'm getting  that he's going this far. I may need to cut the red tape and charge him. :hmm: Still would be taking a gamble, though.

Okaaaaay. Carry on.

Me personally I don't do revenge. Karma will them one way or another. Besides I'm not one to hold grudges. I can't stay mad at anyone.

It must be frustrating to realize someone is trying to violate your privacy. I am sorry it has happened to you.
Your quick thinking to change your password will make sure they can't.
Have you talked to your friend? There is always a chance it may not have been him it would be considerate to go to him first for an explanation. Think carefully about how it might effect him before you take it further.
Forgiveness can show strength.

My suggestion is to talk to this person first.

No need. I already have part of the proof. You see, when someone attempts to illegally sign into an account, they give you an IP address, and the first several e-mails had the same IP address-- my own. That's how I knew who it was. Also, this house is likely the only one on this entire block that has a Comcast Business Class modem, so that really narrows it down a lot. I would confront him, but all he has to do is lie to me and deny that he ever did it, but I already know he did, cause no one else had access to my IP-- I loaned it to him for a short time last year, and he's the only one who has the access to it.

Change your passwords on every account that you have.

Don't leave around sticky notes with your passwords.

Do NOT let anyone have access to any of your accounts.

If they get upset, tell them that is your policy for everyone--nothing personal.

I don't think it's a federal offense unless it involves material theft, a system-wide attack, or identity fraud.

I was planning on letting it go until he started doing this. And like the previous post says, I already know it was him.

That's why I'm not sure if it is federal; I have no idea what he would want it for-- he can create his own.

Stay off the public shared internet and lend nobody anything.

I'm not sure what you mean by lending out your IP but whatever you did QUIT!

If you let him know you are aware it is him he might get embarrassed and stop trying.

Neither can I, but when someone is attacking my account, that's personal. I don't do revenge, either, but if he's trying to take over my account, he can think again.

which account is this person to try to access alldeaf or email?

This right here. Only thing I can't figure out is how he knew my current username. He may have checked the site; I do not know. I have multiple e-mails from alldeaf.com saying someone failed to log into my account 5 times-- nine attempts times 5 equals 45 attempts to get in here.
