What vehicles did you used to learn shift stick driving in?

So what did you use to learn to drive shift stick in?

Back in 1993-1994, I learned in my Grandpa's yellow 1971 Datsun 240Z and my brother's red 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS(non turbo). Those were 2 polar opposite as you would get with vehicles for shift stick lessons.

It wasn't until I got a black 1990 Probe GL and then a blue 1994 Probe GT that I felt comfortable knowing my stuffs.

It's much easier to learn stick in your own vehicle(s) than other people's vehicles.

So bring it on!!!! What did you use to learn stick in?
 
I first started to learn drive automatic car when I was 16 years old. (my parents wanted me to learn stick shift first but I didn't want to.)

My first stick shift driving was ride on mower when I was 17 years old.

First car: Mazda 2 (2008? I'm not sure what year as it was a driving school car) was learning stick shift.

My current car Mazda 3 (2011) is a stick shift. :)
 
Learned the basics on a ½-ton Navy utility truck on an abandoned air field.

Next, I bought a standard stick shift VW bug convertible on which I perfected my skills.
 
My dad sold Oldsmobile, Buick, & Cadillac which ment that they did not have stick shifts on the demonstrators and very, very rarely got any used cars in with it. I did bug him about teaching me enough to get us back to town if I was ever with someone who's car had it and they got sick or injured. Finally, a Carvair (sp) was traded in and we went out one Sunday afternoon for me to drive it. Then two-three years later, after my dad had died, I bought a used '58 Chevy Delray in the middle of December in Southern Illinois.

I later had some fun when guys would drive that car for the first time as the previous owner had been part of a trucking company where they did their on mechanical work. They had put a truck spring on that clutch, not one from a pickup but probably intended for a dump truck or such, and the first time anyone would drive that car the clutch would jump out on them and they would kill it! On the other hand I hated holding that car on the railroad subway hill.

Wow!! You're lucky to have driven a Chevy Corvair. That is older than 240Z!!!

I love hearing all your car stories.
 
My dad bought that car when first batch of Ford Escort came off from assembly line. That was in 1981. Very easy to learn to shift with that car. Took me only few miles before I figured out.

Subaru RS 2000 in 2002.

I drove my exgf's 90's Saab 9-3 with 5spds manuals and turbocharger.

I bet Derek jealous.

Just learned how to use 15 speeds manual from the semi-truck in two years ago.
 
I've always had a stick…

Learned to drive in a Citation (and lived to tell about it) we also had a Honda Accord about the same year.
 
After trying to learn stick shift after hours and hours of trying. I just gave up on it. This was some 20 years ago. hehe Even my grandfather got annoyed when I couldn't do it. I was more frustrated back in my younger years.

Now I wouldn't mind attempting to learn how to drive manual. But I don't know anyone who has a manual vehicle.
 
My father's 1965 Mustang. Kept being reminded it wasn't NASCAR, gotta be careful with a man's precious car! :giggle:
 
All of my cars had stick shift even my first car. My current car has automatic.
