My encounter with JW at door today...

I just had a JW person come to my door. When I opened the door, the woman was scared. She froze and held her breath. She had thought that maybe Zeus would run to the door and chase her away. However, my rottweiler just sat on couch and showed no interest in this JW person. I then signed to the JW person that I was deaf. She knew no signing and just gave me a brochure and walked away. Can you say that I was soooo happy that I told her I was deaf so that she didn't stick around.
 
Oh wow I thought the JWs knew where all the deaf people live:shock:

Careful, now they know. They will send someone who can sign. Maybe you have enough time to train Zeus...

Yes, that and I would also have a cat or 2 that can clap to surprise them.
 
Should have let Zeus eat her. If you let them get away they bring back reinforcements. :lol:

Just watch, they will send somebody over that knows sign language. Give them few days, and you will see.

id count on that too
well my neighbour just told me today (while i was out running the dogs), a couple of religious visitor came to my house and left (whew)...lol and even if im home, i le my dogs bark..but if i told dogs to quiet they wil Then id just say Not interested..they leave simple
be honest say IM NOT INTERESTED,
 
Check your mailbox and ones around you for stickers. The JW and other door to door people where I grew put dots on them for places they went and used colors for codes to come back or not.
 
This is illegal, contact postmaster, they won't like it and will investigate them. It is because all mailbox, regardless who paid for remains property of US Postal service. They have strict regulation when it comes to mailboxes.

BTW, if JW does that, they are breaking the law! TSK TSK TSK!

Absolutely it WILL happen because it happened to me TWICE in the past!

It is really irritating that the Deaf JWs tend to come to my apartment every Saturday morning. Whenever the doorbell rings, I check on lobby watch video on TV before deciding whether to let them in or not. I have denied their requests to enter the building all the times as I enjoy watching their conversations. :giggle:

Two months ago, they rang my doorbell as I watched them on TV. Somehow someone exited the building by opening the main lobby door and they entered there. :mad: I was in bathroom and watched the door movement. My Deaf cat came to smell under the door to see who were at door as usual. They even tried to open the apartment door by turning and shaking the door know. :roll:

That's when you tell people about them. If they tried to enter your home without you giving them permission... I would be pissed and probably a bit scared too.

I wonder if they where just pretending to be JWs? Never had any try to open my door!

Some will go to the windows of a ground floor home and look in and knock on them.

I've also met them come into a hospital room, uninvited, when there was a deaf person there.

They came to my door once, signing, because they were told that a deaf person lived at my address. No deaf person lives at my house but of course as a terp I do sign. I asked how they got my address. They claimed that one of my neighbors told them that I was deaf. That was a lie because I know all my neighbors, and they all know that Hubby and I are hearing. I suspect they got my name and address from some sneaky access to a private listing, possibly one of my memberships in a deaf organization.

When hearing JW's come to my door, it's rare. I answer the door prepared, with my Bible and tracts at hand, and immediately let them know that I'm a born-again Christian and that Jesus Christ is my Savior. Then I offer them one of my tracts. They usually jump back like they saw a snake. :giggle:

I think I don't get too many JW visitors because my house looks like a hard sell to them. I have an American Flag on the front porch (which they don't believe in), and a plaque with a Bible verse at my front door (which shows I know my Bible and they can't confuse me).
 
SOrry to say that JW reminds me of deaf VP people bothering me for installing VP in my house. :shock:
 
JW found me in the hospital when I woke up deaf. Took me awhile to figure it out. Once I was home it happened two more times. At first they acted like they were sent to me by the hospital to help me get stronger. Didn't take long for their "scriptures" to show up. I was really ticked off!!!!
 
The first time a JW came to my house, I answered and they figured out I was deaf. They left. They came back armed with ASL Bible CDs, and JWs who signed. (Don't think they were deaf, just knew sign). They kept coming back and back and back until I said "ENOUGH !!! You are absolutely NOT welcome here." They followed that up with a snail-mail letter about their JW stuff and gave me an email address to contact them, but of course they wrote the email address so poorly it was undecipherable. I think they planned it that way. The last time they showed up here, my dogs barked SO loud they actually ran from the door. We haven't seen them since.
 
Are ya'll sure it was JW??? Or was it the mormons?? They sent people out like that and there called "elders" or missionaries they go door to door as well and yes the missionaries visit in the US besides other countries.
