Another Shooting Spree

Sure, they have used bombs for mass killing too. Even used plane as weapon of mass murders as well.

You have NO IDEA how many guns are in this planet! Once ban, millions, or maybe even billions of rifles will be tucked and hide and NO one is going to give up thousands of dollars worth of rifles. There is NO way we can wipe them out. Government have made several UNSUCCESSFUL attempts to wipe out several things, including alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, guns, and so forth and NONE have yield productive result.

If one wants to obtain guns, there are many ways to do so and they are very easily obtain, by smuggling, though straw buyers, stealing, and IF one has machine shop, they got everything to make guns from scratch and no one will know.

If you wish to be in gun free zone, move to Japan, or Brazil in South America, good luck surviving in Brazil!

Leave 2nd Amendment ****ing alone will ya?
Can't people smuggle guns into Japan at all? If not, then see, it works.

Hey, let CP stay in CA - a lot of anti-gun rights. It is state matter.

Some people don't agree with some constitution, unfortunately.

You don't understand their culture, their culture is completely different than here.

For one reason, they are on "island" and they are crowdy, which make them difficult to hide guns while here in America, there are plenty of place to hide them.

Can't people smuggle guns into Japan at all? If not, then see, it works.

Of course, but over there can they afford the luxury of owning a house? I mean just a basic house? Most can't afford that, and most have trouble affording a modest apartment. Their real estate isn't cheap, which result more people sharing in same apartment. Its common over there but not here. So sharing and hide gun would be very difficult.

Japan isn't pure gun free zone either.

Yes, one boxy of single family house with small backyard cost $5 millions.

California has assault weapon ban since 1989 so why state law isn't worked?

It's possible that it is old inventory that got traded around in CA, or handed down from friend or relative etc. The police will find that out eventually but we will probably never know where it came from.

oag.ca.gov/firearms/regagunfaqs- Frequently Asked Questions | State of California - Department of Justice - Kamala D. Harris Attorney General

How is the 2000 assault weapons law (SB 23) affected by the Kasler v. Lockyer decision?

The 2000 assault weapons law (SB 23) identified assault weapons by specific characteristics. Those weapons so defined must have been lawfully possessed on or before December 31, 1999 and registered on or before December 31, 2000. Penal Code section 12276, subdivisions (e) and (f), reaffirmed by the Kasler v. Lockyer decision, make AK and AR-15 series weapons unlawful for sale after August 16, 2000, even if their assault weapon characteristics are removed. Persons owning these weapons on this date were required to register them with the DOJ on or before January 23, 2001.

Japan has one of lowest homicide ratio of all world countries. Now I'm not saying that their gun-ban is the reason they have no homicide, there are other factors like cultural perspective. Yakuza is primarily about business, not go around killing other people (more likely killing if for business)

You need to have very good reason/job for why you need to own one there before you get accepted - it's probably harder to own any legal handgun in Japan than it is to get a CCW in major counties of California or New York.

All of you haven't answered my question. Why did he use the assault rifle, not knife, sword or shotgun?

you haven't answered my question. California is one of the most gun-restrictive states... so why did this happen?

btw - in case you didn't notice.... this was not a "shooting spree". he was targeting very specific people.

Are you ****ing sure?
With the exception of the gunman's father and brother, all of the other shooting victims were apparently chosen at random.

Then I WANT you to answer the question. Why assault rifle?

I have no idea. too much Call of Duty game? You'll have to ask him.

my turn pretty please? California is one of the most gun-restrictive states... so why did this happen?

Oh, Jiro, how the hell can I ask the dead guy? Don't worry because I already know the answer which you don't want to hear.

Other states are not gun-restrictive, that's why it happened. I bet he got it from one of those states.

All of you haven't answered my question. Why did he use the assault rifle, not knife, sword or shotgun?

Because it's a popular gun and it's been stereotyped by the media, games and Hollywood as the gun you use to this sort of thing so it fits with their self image of wanting to be bad %@!.

I mean, simply considering it's the number 1 rifle in America, by numbers alone it's more likely to be used in crime.
