oh dear oh dear.... I'd take iPhone to Sprint store and have it checked out.

if it passes more than a month then go to IPHONE apple store.

We're in South Carolina. My friend's service provider is Sprint.

You can take to Apple Store - they have one in Charleston.

Well, this evening I tried most of the suggestions and nothing worked. We will go to the Sprint store in a couple days and see what they say. I have a bad feeling about this.

May look for other text messages apps. TextMe, textPlus or WhatsApp works on WIFI iPad or iPhone. Can use iMessage on WIFI only. not SMS

yes iPhone can txt via iMessage to other iPhone/iPad/Messages (MacBook app) only - either by wifi or cell signal. that's how I'm txting my friends in Canada for free.
