Is it a good idea to buy an used cat condo? It just seems risky to me. What if the cat had FIV? It would spread FIV to any cats that goes in the cat condo. There are some stuffs that shouldn't be bought used unless you really know the history. This is one of them.

FIV is a serious disease in cats.

However, casual contact isn't a normal means of spreading FIV. If I'm not mistaken, it has to be transmitted either through mom-to-kittens or cats biting/scratching each other and drawing blood. It is not airborne.

But, like you, I don't like to expose my cats to unnecessary evils. I probably would not buy a used cat condo.

If you are looking for one, and if you're handy, consider making your own. Some 2x4's, carpet remnants (if you don't have any, you can find some at your local home improvement store for ridiculously cheap), and a bunch of nails would make you a nice cat condo. :)

Maybe your cat could look into a time-share vacation condo instead. ;)

cat or condo...second hand cats no good.....give condo turbocharged clean before move in

You could make your own cat condo with clean carpet and scrap wood. :)

Our cats didn't need condo's because they simply took over our entire house as their own.
