Students Who Refuse to Affirm Transgender Classmates Face Punishment

It isn't available to all locations and they may have limitation on enrollment.

Well should create them. It isn't fair to subject other students to this. Until then they should go with faculty bathroom monitors so that all students are protected from bullying. It isn't fair to protect just a few.

Most school districts won't bother to create it because it cost more and they already broke.

It is cheaper to let transgender students to use bathroom whatever they like, especially based on identify as boy-looking or girl-looking, regardless on private area - penis or vagina.

I know you will disagree, but it doesn't change my suggestion and more schools will start change, though.

Your suggestion is completely unfair to all of the other students and creates a loophole that allows others to suffer.

Why is a monitor a bad idea? A monitor would protect everyone.

You threw my post with all unfair comment, so I only gave a recommendation that I learned from transgender students and I don't care if you don't like it because you are not transgender, nor is me. It is up to transgender students and I support their case if they want too.

The bathroom monitors are not exist, especially at schools that where I attended, also in my area too.

Right, and I say that recommendation is unfair to the other students.

No it is not solely up to transgendered students. Everyone has a say in public schools.

I didn't ask about existing bathroom monitors (although some schools have them) I asked why that would be a bad idea.

Well, I disagree with you about fairness.

Some transgender students said bathroom monitors aren't good enough and they don't want go to bathroom that isn't belong to their gender.

Took my 11th grader today for a dental checkup (braces)....and we had time to do a little talking about this subject....He said that the transgenders used the Male bathroom....and as far as he knew, no problems at all this year.....He also said that 2 transgenders he knew were "popular", well-liked and got a lot of attention....Said he had no problem with them at all...at his School....other schools I'm not sure about tho'.....

We also discussed Gays and Lesbians at the Prom...they are allowed here at his school...and he also said "no problem" with them....

Guessing it all boils down to "attitude"....but total acceptance, I'm not so sure.

Well, that is their problem. Alot of people want stuff that they cannot have. It is unfair to infringe upon the rights of the vast majority of students to appease a handful.

It is also unfair to other student who are bullied that a handful are getting special treatment. The loophole that this would open is outrageous.....Antony with common sense can see that.

That's the thing too, it's not like allowing a boy to use the girls bathroom is going to stop any bullying. In fact it would probably increase it. Girls can be pretty cruel. Then there are issues with jealous boyfriends who would probably have a big issue with guys using the same restroom as their girlfriends. This whole thing is an unnecessary distraction.

"Popular" is another issue as well. How many will do this just to get special attention???

You entitled your opinion, so there is no point to argue with me.

Serious question for all. Where do we draw the line? S&M kids? Teen Dominatrices? Furries? I am sure these people feel like those are THEIR identities too. When do we say enough is enough, school is for learning, leave your sexual proclivities at home? This has nothing to do with "hate." How many distractions are we going to force teachers and students to endure? That is the question.

No need to argue. I would love to hear your opinion on how exactly, making special provisions for a select few at the expense of everyone is fair to everyone.

Nothing quite like being harassed and pummeled by a group of bigoted idiots to make someone feel special.

If you think people choose to be gay for popularity, or because it is the easy way, you better do some research. Nothing easy or popular about it.

You missed the point. Oh well. *shrug*

I agree, my life with my sex orientation isn't choice, even it isn't easy.

I have deal with discrimination and harassment.

You threw that comment out there. Not surprised you have nothing to back it up with. *shrug*

Actually it was in response to RR's post in which she said the students were popular in her son's school. :)
