it's not a hypothetical question since it has happened in Aurora and DeKalb. I'm using ACTUAL cases because I'd like to know what's your response to it.

nothing? but we already have plenty of gun laws in place and government isn't even enforcing it.

so why bother passing even worse law with no intention to enforce it? Project Exile makes a much better sense to enforce than this ridiculous bill.

I guess this is the part that's supposed to apply to that scenario:

"...Another provision places requirements on therapists, psychologists, registered nurses and licensed social workers who believe a mental health patient made a credible threat to use a gun illegally. They would be required to report such a threat to a mental health director, who would have to notify the state. Any registered handguns — or registered assault weapons purchased before the ban — could be taken from the patient...."

looks like shotgun and "nonmilitary-like" long arms are not included since it's not required to register those.

The whole new legislation is a feel-good political-appeasement measure; it won't stop any nut who is serious about doing damage.
 
As a Texan and Southerner, this NY gun ban has my full support! I hope all of the Yankee states disarm.
 
NYS has violated 2nd Amendment, and will go up to Supreme court, or otherwise will be struck down, just watch!

And no, that law will not make us any safer, actually the opposite.

I agree. District of Columbia vs Heller and McDonald vs Chicago to name two major examples in recent times.
 
I can't believe how naive NYS government is! All of these mass shooting shooters obtained their guns illegally, how would new law going to prevent that?

That new law will NOT stop these mass shooting, whats more I could decide relocate outside of NYS and buy guns then move back in, how would that law prevent me? Nah!

Again, that stupid law does more harm than good.

actually under this new law... it would be illegal to have a possession of high capacity magazine. same thing with NJ. so if you relocate to somewhere... buy a gun w/ high-capacity magazine... and then move back in... well - you'd have to sell it before you move back in or you could get in deep trouble.

that's what happened to Brian Aitken. His jail sentence got commuted by Governor Christie but not pardoned because of hollow-point ammunition. It's illegal to bring HP rounds outside your home.
