I've decided to finally learn to drive

Having grown up in the suburbs, I have never been without a car. I bought my first one a few months before I got my license at 16.5 years old. Even if you don't intend to get a car, driving is an important skill in case you ever have to do it some day.

Personally, I think (once you get over any initial fear) you'll love it. It gives you a alot of freedom and power.

Today, you can use a zip car if you don't have your own. In NY as here in Boston, parking a car can be very costly.

NY? costly? it's only costly if you don't know where to park or when to move your car on cleaning day. Boston is definitely costly to park and it's not easy to park free but in NY, piece of cake. plenty of free parking.

LOL :laugh2: sorry to laugh and I'm glad your foot didn't get run over, but that happens ALL THE TIME here!! Well, maybe mostly people just claiming to have had their foot run over to sue the city. It's never very dark here at night, and I've seen cars with no headlights on at night because I suppose the driver doesnt realize he didn't put them on because of the street lights everywhere.

Forget about deer on dark country roads, what about alien abductions?? LOL I've seen those youtube videos of strange creatures walking down lonely roads. Yikes!~

 I was crossin the street and taxi made a quick turn right in front of me. Beware of NYC taxis. :P

No such thing...dont believe in aliens....sorry!

Deer? YOU TOO CHICKEN.

Night driver on rural highway is fun as hell with truck. ;)

Dude, deer accidents has claimed many human lives...just a yr ago, a dead deer went through school bus windshield and ended up seven rows back after got hit by a vehicle..thank goodness the bus-driver didnt pick up the kids,yet.. several seats bent backward. :eek3: The bus driver did suffered a broken nose!

You too scared of rural road so I will gladly to take you, along with two choice of your AD friends.

Use deer guard on truck so you will less likely to be injured from accident by hit the deer.

Nah, Im more wise..wise only come with age. You'll understand one day.

Car accidents is top 5 for men in death.

Your lack of fear really concerns me... :hmm:

I've seen deer guards on trucks but doesnt mean your windshield is safe.

Two choices of AD members would be your grumpy grandma,Rockin Robin and her friend KristenB so I could hook you up with your grandma's friend.

Prove me!

I have story that happened on the other side of my city. A guy refused to drive, was so terrified that if he drive he would get killed, thinks walk is much safer than driving. Guess what? He got killed by walking, it was a truck that killed him.

Maybe I meant age from 18-34... Sorry for confusion..

Nah, I'd much rather nap and smell my own killer farts that would stain your nose hairs than wastin my time with you. :D

:thumb:

but here's a thing - if you're not going to own a car or drive a car for quite a while after you get a license..... there's really no point in doing it now because what you learn will be rusty.

it's preferable that you do this if you plan on driving on more frequent basis so that what you learn will stay fresh in your memory and muscle memory.

Not true. It's like saying 'why learn Swahili if you'll never go to Africa or
if you don't know anybody who speak Swahili".

The point is, getting a drivers license, being a licensed driver is a skill worth learning, and as such,
it can be taken anytime, anywhere at any point in your life (of course while not underage anymore)
even if you do not plan to drive a car at all.
It can be done to just your own satisfaction, to know YOU CAN DO IT.

Mimsy, please, go for it!
Just because you don't have your own car now, it's not a reason not to do it!
On the contrary, the longer you DON'T have the DL the longer you won't have your own CAR.

believe me, having the coveted DL is exactly the motivation toward owning one!

Even if, for one reason or other you won't be able to afford a car - like you've said, you can use your parents for a while.

Regardless of what happens, you will always be proud to have the Drivers Licence.

If it expires before you get your own 4 wheels, which I doubt, you at least will know what's like to pass one :)

There is a lot of deers in Alabama and I never hit deer.

When in case, if you see so apply brake so fast.

It is still no excuse to not drive at night because of deer.

I think RR doesn't like any members to mention her name and she isn't my grandma, you funny and I'm going take you, along with diehardbiker and Jiro. I hope you have fun with tough friends.

Lemme know when you hit a deer and shit yourself. :laugh2: Not all drivers apply brake, they swerve to miss which is worse.
