I'm almost done with high school, My last day is on May 30th. Graduation is on June 2nd. I'm so excited! I will be getting my Cap and Gown on my last day of school. What i'm a bit nervous though is my Cap not fitting on my head due to my implants. Does anybody with cochlear implants have that kind of problem or something? That's kind of my fears for graduation, including falling up on the steps and embarrassing myself in front of a thousand people.

My interpreter has set up an another interpreter for me for graduation. My main interpreter's daughter goes to school with me and she wants to watch her graduate, which is understandable. She told me she has already set up this for me because she knew the school would be lazy and not do anything. So, she already did this part months ago. Which made my parents very happy. The day before graduation we have an mandatory practice ceremony and she will be interpreting for me and we're going to figure out where the 2nd interpreter will be standing/ sitting for me to be able to see her. Do you guys have any tips on that? What do you usually have the interpreter do for graduations?

I'm super excited. On tuesday, May 22nd i'm going to Ikea with my class for a field trip. Making my week a 4-day week and then we have a 3 day weekend due to memorial day. which means it's a short week for me! I can hardly wait. I want to leave high school! there's been so much drama and i'm sick of it!

Congratulations!!

Enjoy the festivities and summer break :)

I think your cap will probably be fine, just make sure you have bobby pins and you can pin them so that it stays in place.

Are you planning on going to college?

Yep! I'm going to be going to sinclair community college in the fall for probably about 2 years to get my associate's. After that i'm planning on transferring to University of Cinncinatti to get started on my major which is graphic design. I will be starting my minor in the 2nd semester of my freshman year in college. :)

Congrats!!! That's so awesome. I still have two more years of high school to do... junior year, here I come! :)

I'm surprised u didn't pick out at Gally or NTID/RIT how come?

I actually wanted to apply for Gally. I was talking about it to my mom and she didn't seem to think that it would be a good idea due to money, and being away from home. But what she seems to think is that since i have CI's on both ears, the students at Gally would turn their backs against me because i have CI's. So.. :/

Congratulations on your graduating from high school..I'm sure ya will do well in college and more.. and you can purse your dream job for sure.. good luck and keep us updated on how ya doing in college and etc.. as for Gally, interesting thing about deaf students not accepting you due to your CIs, that really is strange but understandable why that might be the case.. I hope ya will do well for yourself!

That is a VERY outdated myth. Maybe you would have gotten that treatment years and years ago,but not now. Attitudes seem to be very mixed there...there are anti CI folks, but CIs have been seen and accepted at Gally...its just like with hearing aids. Heck, some kids from CID/Clarke/other big oral schools used to attend Gally.
I think you should visit....it's far away but it's SO MUCH better then a hearign college. The experiance is the best!

I went to Gallaudet University for Fall 2011 and there are some students with 2 CI so there are no complaint about harassment against on students because of CI.

First, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Next, Ikea?? Isn't that a furniture store??

yeah, its a swedish store actually. Some very smart designers came up with like different designs for rooms that are very tight spaced in an apartment. We went there at 9:30-12:15. It was fun! The underclassmen had to do a scavenger hunt. My teacher gave them a list of things such as a futon, chair, lighting, etc and they get to pick what they like but they have to write down the pricing and what the product is named and they have to take a picture of it because its going to be a part of their exam. The all of the seniors at school do not have to take exams unless their grade is a C or higher. Luckily, I don't have to take any exams! :D

here's link to Ikea: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/

congratulations!! May the future take you on the road to successful...Beyond and INFINITY!
