Wando teacher fired for showing 'Jackass 2' plans to appeal

Agreed, I started watch R rated movies when I was younger.

yes. only in your own home or personal time but it's not legal at schools.

All he did was showing a video to high school students who are actually old enough to see R rated movies...why, I bet many of them already saw R rated movies in middle school before high school. At least it didnt include any porngraphy or nude scenes in that movie. It is pretty stupid how people react to nude scenes yet they don't really seem to react to violent scenes.

There is a time and a place to watch R rated movies....even all movies. Seriously, do you think the movie "Jackass" is appropriate in schools where they are trying to get an education?

just did a bit of digging. he's a sociology teacher. and this occurred at Latin class. wow since when high school has a sociology teacher and latin course? it must be a really good school.
I took Latin in high school. Is that a big deal? :giggle:

Right!....and what, if any, is "Jackass" educational?....Some R rated movies have educational intent, that's why the schools show them. And parents are usually sent a letter asking if their child would be allowed to watch the movie.

If one of my sons got a letter from school or the teacher asking if it was OK if he could watch Jackass during school hours......:hmm:....it would get me to wondering just what the teacher was teaching them.
Agreed. Imagine how it will go when they ask for the next school bond.

While R movies might have some educational value, this particular one does not. I cannot fathom the purpose being showing this, except to appear to be the coolest teacher.

I don't think schools around my area teach Latin :hmm:

and beside... latin? why bother learning an obscured language?

When he discovered how inappropriate it was becoming he turned it off? Um, you don't watch your materials before showing them to your class? Besides screening them for inappropriate content, don't you need to make some sort of annotation so that you are prepared to give your class an activity or lead a discussion about the film? Yeah, I'm a teacher lol. Any teacher this stupid deserves to be fired.

How would anybody think "Jackass" is some kind of education? I would understand if it is about histories in R-rated movies but, wow? Jackass is a "good" education for students?

No make sense...

As if the title alone was not enough...
