2 Muslim men kicked off flight sue 2 air carriers

I would *think* it would be much more difficult to do that once the plane is in the air.

They are trained to take control of the situation. They just don't sit there and do nothing.

Isn't the whole security screening process designed to prevent a terrorist from boarding a plane? Would that be because if a terrorist were able to board a plane, they could blow it up? I wonder what good a Marshall would do in a situation like that :hmm:

If it had not been for the long sordid history of Muslim extremists hijacking planes, I doubt there would be any "unreasonable fear" of it ever happening again.

One is an adjunct instructor of Arabic at the University of Memphis. The other is a religious leader with the Islamic Association of Greater Memphis. They live in the USA, it's more than likely that they speak English.

Two of them together, talking to no one except to themselves, would be more inclined to speak in their own native tongue. Who knows. This has happened before.

Maybe they spoke English with an Arabic accent.

It's not that easy to blow up an airplane. If it was, we would have lost several planes to it in the last few years, but it hasn't happened. Somebody did attempt to, but he failed miserably.

Anyway, you are more likely to be murdered by a family member than by a Muslim terrorist. It's interesting to see how much fear people are in of the terrorists when they are more likely to die in a car collision, be poisoned by a spouse, killed while falling down the stairs. At least in the USA that is.

Mass hysteria is all it is.

They say her face is like a vagina and it attracts men? Um...okay I don't think it will attract me. It will probably freak me instead. However, from what the article says, it sounds like someone damaged her face pretty bad.

Women's right is essentially nil when compared to what men are allowed to do.

I think they will want publicity to spread the knowledge of such discrimination. So, trial it will be.

And I do hope that it is a well publicized trial. Considering that it involves a major airline, I would say it would be.

Maybe the passengers heard these men making comments that disturbed them or saw something that made them uncomfortable? They didn't take the vouchers because these men weren't on their plane anymore! All I was saying is that there is more to this story as there always is. Two parts, not just one!

The passengers did not take the airline up on their offer of a voucher. Evidently, they weren't too uncomfortable.

And just because someone is uncomfortable doesn't give the airline the go ahead to discriminate. These men were doing nothing wrong. If someone is uncomfortable, it has nothing to with them, but with the person's own biases, prejudices, and discriminations. That person is the problem. Not the one minding their own business and creating no threat.

Aren't there air marshals on the planes? Aren't they responsible to handle situations like these? If they suspect people of being terrorists, it's their duty to assess the situation and remove the threat from the plane.

Air Marshals are only on certain flights. Usually only the big ones. Cross country mostly. Large planes are the ones they are most likely to be on. They only get involved if the flight crew cannot handle the issue.

According to their version of events....again we have only heard one side

Don't you think they would have been detained and questioned if they were heard making susceptible remarks?

Not necessarily. With law suits being rampant and not wanting to push the limits I doubt it unless they found something during their search.

Like I said, why would they? These men were removed from their flight. They don't want to be inconvenienced anymore than they have to.

Then what is the point of security if they are not detained for making susceptible remarks? You cannot say the word, "bomb" on a plane without getting detained.

Which they obviously did not. So they should not have been refused their seats on the plane.
