Welfare recipients live in mansion

Next, the reason that I know of food stamps being traded for drugs is that I have spoken with officers in our local area who have worked these cases! And what is TANIF?

As for this couple, I don't have all the details do I cant say until charges have been filed. One question- does the couple actually own the home or are they renting it?

The loophole might have been that they owned the home and falsely stated they rented the home. And the marriage thing seems fishy. We're they legally married or was it a common law marriage?

They are renting it. Never know if the owner rented it to them for really cheap. Sometimes rich people rent their properties for cheap to people they know or just for the hell of it.

Actually, according to Reba's link. It appears He owned it and she was claiming to rent it from him. It says he was collecting the Sect. 8 money as her landlord

Shouldn't you wait until they at least have charges filed against them before being judgemental of them? There is nothing to suggest that these people have committed fraud. Not in the OP and not in the update. You have just decided that they are guilty of fraud. Kind of like a modern day witch hunt. Oh, look where they live! They must be defrauding the government. Oh, look at her; she gave that guy the evil eye. Witch!

With Clinton and Cain, there was certainly more evidence of wrong doing. Not really good comparisons.

Appears is the key word here. It also says that they "appear" to be married. That is something that is easily confirmed. You'd think they would have confirmed that prior.

I for one am anxious to see what comes out in the next few months.

Actually, what you posted is rather confusing. One appears to show a parcel of land with his name, but the taxes at the bottom have nothing to do with that specific parcel of land. No where do you have anything stating that he is the owner.

People need to wait and see what happens to this in the courts. If he has defrauded the governement, he will be held accountable. People are just so quick to jump to take any opportunity to cast a negative light on the welfare system.

Second unless I personally see a felony being committed outside of my jurisdiction then I cannot act due to law. But being an LEO you should know right?

I never turn a blind eye to crime in my jurisdiction or felonies being committed in my presence. I also never said that all or most welfare recipients take or use drugs, that would be your statement not mine. I just know like most other sensible people that the system is being abused. Like I said, I know how much education and training it takes to become licensed as a chiropractor. That would include knowing what degrees he holds. Most chiropractic schools don't even offer the traditional degree.

You said you knew it was happening every day. It would be logical to think that you were either observing these things take place, or someone had informed you that they were taking place specificallly. Either one of those would compel you to act, especially since you are so hell bent on telling us how the system needs to be reformed. I don't accept the sit back and complain stance. If you are so certain it is happening, and you are so certain that the system needs to be fixed so these things don't happen, you are in a position, as an officer of the law, to do something about it.

It says "name". It does not say "owner".

Like I said, people need to see what comes of this in a federal court. Anything else is a witch hunt. Any opportunity to villify public assistance that the people that receive it.

If this couple is guilty of committing fraud, they will be held responsible, as they should. But we do not know yet that they are guilty. Just a lot of assumption and complaining about the system.

I have 2.5 bathrooms, so I know what a half-bath includes; what is a .25 bathroom--a stainless steel sink/toilet combo piece like they have in prison cells?

Do you mean that there is only a toilet seat in the bathroom? If yes, then how somebody needs to wash his/her hands? Put his/her hands in the toilet? eeek!

I think I never heard of .25 bath. It is more like that we talk about 1, 1.25, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5. 1 mean one whole bathroom as a sink and a full shower. If it is 1.25, then it is a sink and a half shower.
 
Can you imagine it was only $179k in 1989 and it would be a big profit if someone sold that house in 2011.
