I remember hearing about Beth Ditto from the Gossip band saying she ate squirrels as a child. When I heard that, my first thought was Is she from the South? and my second thought was that did her family eat a lot of Brunswick stew when she was little.

As for my first question, she's not from the South. Her parents are Southerners though. I still have no idea if they ate a lot of Brunswick stew when she was little.

My younger grandson did that, too. Cooked the meat on a stick over a camp fire. He said it was OK but he wouldn't want more.

I understand about people having different taste. I just need to get over my own prejudice about eating horse.

meat was stiff, right?

Depends on how its prepared but yeah it has a different texture to it for sure.

Then again, I have had it in stew and it actually falls apart and quite tender like chicken.

I need to get over my disgust at eating slugs from rotting wood.

The Chinese eat them too.

Chinese people eat everything.

How.... medieval.

No!! NOOO!!!
Keep your prejudice! :giggle:

I will never eat horses but the idea of other people eating it especially if it is made legal here. That will take a long time to get used to. lol

This is starting to remind me of Pulp Fiction when they talked about eating dogs and Arnold Ziffle

There was never a legal problem about EATING it here in the States; it was just not legal to slaughter them here.....I vaguely remember, some years ago, horse meat was made available at the retail level in AZ
