NJ Property Tax = $12,000 yr
DE Property Tax = $1,500 yr

Anyone here from Delaware? If so, what's your opinion about these towns: Lewes, Milton, and Milford?

My first thought was to move to Long Island but the taxes there are similar to New Jersey's, so I don't know...:hmm:

I want to work at Delaware School for the Deaf..the pay is double what the pay is here in Maryland. too far..GRRRR

Alex, are you job-hunting? Do you have an idea of what kind of salary you could get?

Have you talked with a Realtor in Delaware? There might be hidden costs (not that I know of any, particularly) that might make a difference.

See if you have to have wind insurance, for instance. Is Delaware considered high-risk for hurricanes?

All those beach towns are considered pretty nice, I think. Some are more party/resort oriented than others.

Well there's good sea duck hunting in Milford I am told, but that's all I know. Sorry I'm useless.

All I know is, if your name is Del, you should be aware. :giggle:

It's nearly 1 AM here, give m a break. :P

I've been to Lewes. and Dover. There's nothing in there. You wouldn't like it. That's why it's so cheap. There's just... nothing in there.

I've been to Dover too, and there's nothing there either.
(Dover, AR)

Delaware is actually a beautiful state... Compared to NJ... Good luck!!!

I'm also thinking about moving back to CA for real this time this spring when the snow melts away. :)

What makes you want to come back to CA? It's alright, but economy's still struggling here. I'm back and nothing that has struck me as awesome so far. Other than the nice ole weather...

My family lives there. All of my bestfriends live there. If I ever moved back, I'd live at my parents for a bit while looking for a job. Overall, I think I'd just be happier there than here. I know the economy there is awful compared to NY, but it's bad here as well... At least I have people to come back to in CA...

I'm told everything is really expensive in CA. Their minimum wage is $9.00/hr. which tells me it costs a lot to live there.

yeah, kind of depends on where you want to live.

Once you pass SF in norcal it gets cheaper, you can get away with rent that you pay for AR. ~$500 avg for a 1BR right? Up in Redding or Shasta but you're out in the mountains with fewer people around (not much since that it probably doesn't bother you)

In Socal, SF, $500 is not enough for anything unless you room with someone...
Lotta apartments in socal run $1.0k-$1.5k for 1/2BRs. SF is more expensive as rule of thumb. Can easily hit $2k's.

You can also go east too but the heat can get unbearable for folks too.

Yikes, 2k for a 1B apartment is too rich for my blood.
