Teen Tweets of Abuse 144 Times, Kills Herself

What a tragic story. How no one stepped up to help her is beyond me. 500+ twitter followers, 144 tweets about being abused and no one intervened?? What a pathetic, heartless, selfish group of people.

Kind of harsh on her "followers" if you get my drift. If you Tweeted 144 times that you were being abused, I still would not be able to help you. Reason: I only know you through the internet as CSign. How would I help? How do you assume nobody sent her links for abuse hotlines? Could I drive over there and take you to safety? Unlikely. It is a big world. I have more concern for people that lie injured on the street, and nobody stops to help them. They don't need the address to find the victims.

Ashley went to the authorities a year ago to report sex abuse, but no one believed her.

What a shame, victims often face this kind of situation. The system which is supposed to help the victims only end up victimizing them even further.

This forum is not quite the same as twitter. This girl wasn't famous- it's unlikely people would have "followed" her unless they knew her somehow. Obviously this girl was crying for help, and as Beowulf pointed out the authorities didn't even listen.

If I were one of her followers, even if by 6 degrees of separation I would have done everything in my power to have helped her. Especially given the content of her tweets.

When everyone assumes everyone else is taking care of things, nothing gets done. And in this case, a life was lost.

Kind of reminds me of the time somebody broadcasted himself committing suicide on a webcam, and he had an audience who did nothing but watched him dying.

Didnt AD experience that and we all wireless to find out where that person lived and who to contact? My memory isn't clear so correct me if iam wrong

Terrible. That's what I'm talking about. We have a moral obligation as humans to step up and help in whatever way we can.

No, you are correct. IP address was tracked and authorities in the area were notified of a suicide threat and the need to do a welfare check immediately. Thank goodness, the suicide was not completed.

Such a sad state of our society.

I think I remember that one.

Those who stand by and watch without making a stand are just as guilty as the people who are driving their victim to suicide.

Forgive me but I find your posts completely useless and hypocritical. I also find it tiresome too. You need to learn how to take a control of your emotion and get a grip. Instead of using"Victim Card", it would be conducive of you to convert your emotional distress into actuality. You always speak of "I would have...." instead of actually doing it.

For example - couple of ADers in here are actively posting a lot about constant emotional abuses from their family members... and yet you are not doing anything about it.

As you quoted - "What a pathetic, heartless, selfish group of people." Including you and me too?
