Fate?

Loveblue - your car is deaf too?? lol

You made me laugh!

I am a determinist. Everything that happens in the universe happens because it must happen and because it cannot happen any other way. In other words, everything happens for a reason. But I am not a fatalist.

I disagree with this! I do not think getting run over by car happen because it had to happen!! Or a child is killed because is has to happen! That is like saying it OK to go out kill people because it must happen!!

Just for giggles, here's what the dictionary says about fate:

fate   [feyt] Show IPA noun, verb, fat·ed, fat·ing.
noun

1. something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune; lot: It is always his fate to be left behind.

2. the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed; the decreed cause of events; time: Fate decreed that they would never meet again.

3. that which is inevitably predetermined; destiny: Death is our ineluctable fate.

4. a prophetic declaration of what must be: The oracle pronounced their fate.

5. death, destruction, or ruin.

Ya know, I met fate one day... She divorced me and now I am looking for Destiny.

I'm not sure what I believe, exactly, but I find multiple universe theories very interesting. If everything that can happen DOES happen in parallel universes, then what does that mean for the concept of fate?

I was thinking of same thing.

I believes that multi-verse theory defies the definition of fate. However I think that multi-verse is one whimsical theory that actually makes sense.

I just look at life like its between alpha and omega, whatever you do will trigger the ripple around you.

Oh... better not sneeze... that ripple could be awful! :hmm:

I often think about the idea of infinite universes, and I find it very intriguing. Given what we know about quantum mechanics, it does seem plausible. I like to believe that the universe in which my consciousness has chosen to express itself is, for whatever reason, my determined path. All the other universes my likeness inhabits (but not my consciousness) simply contribute to my imagination.

I definitely believe in fate, one of the reasons is in the way I met boyfriend and how my life has changed since that one day..the other reason is the way i met my cat :)
We actually went to the shelter to get another cat but my baby Luke sold himself when he was wrestling with his name card (which was twice as big as him) behind the other kittens ;)
What makes me feel even more inclined to fate is that the day after we brought Luke home, he got really sick with the feline flu and for a while it was touch and go for him. One of the reasons why he is still around was because we took him to the vet right away and I was able to because I had one of those unique 4 days off in the middle of the week.

My idea of fate is that:
Its a series of things working together that end up producing an event that was so perfect and right, that is was as is God himself had decreed it.
