What about a Virgin?

@ Botts and LDNanna -- so, on the Droid phones, do you get a notification everytime you get e-mail? Or do you have to check it?

It vibrates menacingly!

LoL! That's good to know.

I don't know why, but all the VM phones I've had handled e-mail terribly. I may be replacing my current phone sooner than I had planned.

That was my experience with the phone before, which was Kyocera Loft. It either didn't vibrate or was so weak I couldn't feel it. I ended up having to watch it to see it light up if I wanted to have my conversatioln with my husband on his lunch hour . It was frustrating if he was off schedule as I would miss his texts.

Now I am happy with the Droid!

Samsung Intercept Android Phone | Virgin Mobile

This is mine. It notifies me. I also have aim, relay and my purple mail. It notifies me by vibration. It is in the setup. It is easy. I did get mine on sale at Best Buy. They set it up for me with my google mail address. I do really like the android market. It also came with an sd card. I have downloaded some cool aps such as angry birds, local news and weather alerts (handy for deaf), a few recipe aps and a barcode scanner.

When I bought it at Best Buy, the nice young fellow set it all up, transferred my info from my old phone, wiped my old phone and gave me some handy tips. It was as cheap as at the VM site. Now, if I have problems I simply take it to Best Buy. I have had no problems at all but it is convenient to know that I can do this. The kid at Best Buy is deaf friendly. Of course he wants me to teach him a sign or two. Gladly! lol

It comes preloaded with a few handy aps.

Before I had the Rumor Touch, but the messaging was lacking since it only sent short, unthreaded messages. I just sold it on ebay and it paid for half of the new droid. Whoot!

Interesting. I'm assuming based on your last post that you were able to automatically know when you received e-mails on your Rumor Touch also -- because you didn't list it as something you had an issue with.

I had the Kyocera Wildcard, LG Rumor Touch for less than a month and currently the LG Rumor 2. On none of the phones was I able to automatically know when I received an e-mail. I had tried it with both my main Verizon e-mail account and a free aol e-mail account that I set up just to try with my cell phone. No problem sending and receiving e-mails -- I just never got notified. (Well, I didn't try to set up my Verizon email with the Kyocera -- I think the Kyocera phone's software only claimed to be able to work with AOL or Yahoo e-mail.)

But maybe if I had tried setting up the LG phones to work with a gmail account I would gotten automatic e-mail notification?

Well, its not my top priority right now -- but when its time for me to replace my phone -- I'll remember this thread.

I'm glad you and Botts are enjoying your phones! :)

Jazz, the notification setting is buried deep beneath your settings menu.

I did just sell my Rumor touch on ebay but the buyer has yet to pay. Think I must relist it. Bleh.

Oh, what a pain in the neck. I hope you won't have to. Why do people bid on things they dont' intend to buy?

LDNanna, I'm pretty techie for someone who's not an engineer. I throughly explored every menu option -- but then again the alternative is that BOTH of my LG phones had incomplete software installed. I've heard of that occassionally happening on a cell phone every once in a while -- but on two phones that were also different models? It does seem unlikely. As much as I hate to think so, I suppose it's more likely that I messed up. :(

Nah. I cheated. Best Buy set it up for me. I am not so techie. The kid at the store seems to "get it" when he helps me pick out and set up a phone. He goofed once and said how much he thought I would like the ring tones. lol (guess what look he got??) After a great "duh" face, he really thought about it and set it up perfectly. I do get lost in the menus.

I can't program the tv and peripherals at all! lol This happened after I turned fifty-cough-cough years old. :)

Am I the only one pissed off at the incredibly misleading subject line?!

I hate t mobile with passion. My sidekick 4g freezes all the times on me.
I have T-mobile with my Blackberry 3G, and never had a problem like that. :dunno:

I have always wondered if I can just pay every month, you know kind of like with apartment rent. You know.....
We pay a set amount that doesn't change, every month. Is that what you mean?
