Pretty obvious why I posted this. :P

One problem is, who would enforce it? :dunno:

The DMV, police, and highway patrol can enforce auto and driver insurance. It's enforced by not letting people drive on public roads without it.

Who would enforce medical insurance coverage, and how? Would you say, "You're not allowed to be born or live without medical insurance"?

Also, the only required auto/driver insurance is liability, to pay for injury and damage to others. How would medical insurance do that?

(The other exception is full coverage if required by the seller who holds the title to the car until it's paid off.)

What would be the equivalent for humans be to full coverage? Funeral insurance?

:dunno2:

this is why I believe the government should be mandated to give insurance, not you providing it yourself.

What would it cover?

Who would pay for it?

Who would be the actual provider?

Everything, everyone via taxes, the government.

It's actually no big difference when you pay for it already then switch the person you're paying to the government.

$300/month to a private insurance to $300/month to taxes. no difference.

Fine by me.

I think that medical insurance will be tracked by 2 sources.

source 1. All of those who file taxes. It has all the dependents on it.
source 2. those on social security or on public assistance. That would track all so-called illegals and those who have low or no income that dont file taxes.

I frankly cannot think of who would not have a source of income and live in US except for visitors and real illegal immigrants.

I agree. The way things stand now, if an uninsured citizen has a stay in the hospital, the rest of the taxpayers foot the bill. What is the difference?

I work for a guy. He rakes in 6 digits year in and out of personal income. Up until recently he didn't have health insurance.

And btw - a lot of illegal immigrants do pay taxes.

Just throwing that out there.

You mean taxpayers would pay for insurance for everyone, correct? Would that require an increase in income taxes, or sales taxes, or some other tax?

Do you mean that the government would actually be the insurance carrier? Would that do away with all the private insurance companies? Would the government invest the premiums the way private companies do?

That would be a lot more than I pay now. Is that for an individual or for a family? How much deductible and copay? What about people who don't pay taxes?

If we bring the material costs in the health supply field down a bit - things would be a lot cheaper in the health care.

Which is why I think it should be managed by the public not the private companies with money as their best interests.

You mean, the way the USPS does compared to UPS and FedEx?

The uninsured citizen pay taxes too.

You know, it's like saying 'I don't have children so why should I pay property taxes, part of which covers public education in my district?"

As for who would enforce medical insurance - the beauty of healthcare in Canada is that you're automatically covered if you're a Canadian citizen. There's no need to enforce insurance.

Some other tax.

Yes, do away with the private companies.

Just throwing out a figure. If you currently pay $150 to your current insurance carrier, stop that, then pay the govt 150 bucks, whats the difference if you get the same coverage?

About these people who doesn't pay taxes? I believe that we should not even question that because I would have your back anytime. I care about others. We as a nation should be supporting eachother at any time.

Amazing. I'm a believer in a country ensuring the health of its occupants. It maximizes productivity and increases happiness.

Next stop: Socialism? :hmm: Or is it here already in some quarters and growing......?
