Congrats! Glad to know you are still in remission. I am sorry to hear about your friend. At least you were able to be with her to her end and I know she is truly thankful for that. Hugs to you!!

They sounds lovely. I know the feeling. I'm not sure if I need to have my eyes check up so I wait a little more.
My girl prefers to wear the metal glasses over the plastic. She has both. So let me know which one do you feel more comfortable. My hub likes the top of the metal and the bottom of the glasses with no frame. He likes it. I guess plastic glasses are more weight. So. Congratulations eh

Bloody hell, I hope you are going to be OK, and really sorry about your freind, what an honor, but a little scary for me I guess, BUT i havent read up to section in "dying" you see, im doing Sociology of Death and Dying, Very interesting paper, its a Post Graduate special topic im probably one of the 3 or 4 in the country doing this paper(the 700 lever version)...
it scares me that you're ill, because i really hope that one day I will come to USA and visit you. You are a hardcase, and it would lovely to meet you. heck it's still an honor to have meet you online , we chatted you helped proof reading once, you are awesome! and you shared crazy stories too and no i havent told other souls- at least not the ones in AD lol.
Please look after your (i cant take off yet have study commitments here and all)
and i sincerely hope you truely recover or at least the remission remains a nice lengthly one.

What did I do today?
I went to work, did some googling on hearing dogs as if I find myself not responding to my environment in the apartment, I *might* consider getting a service animal.
I also realized my hearing has deteriorated even further since the last time I complained about it on FB. I think it's high time I get a new audiogram done. It's been 10 years since my last one and I'm hoping my old audie is still in the same place as she was the last time I went there. I will do some googling to find out for sure first though.
What made me realize this is because all day - sounds just seemed a bit more 'off' than before then when I went to the cafe with my parents, my mom was sitting right beside me and I could barely hear her.
I don't mind if I eventually go completely deaf, but I would just like to be able to make the proper accommodations such as having a d/hh smoke alarm, and to have other devices that are handy such as captioned telephones, vibrating alarm clocks, and to arrange for either a note taker or CART at my university when I return to my studies.
If my audie believes a new HA would be beneficial for me, then I would consider giving HAs another try with the advancements made since 1999. I also would not go with a CIC-HA either. I am thinking BTEs might be better - again that will be discussed with my audie.
Hopefully, things will go smoothly with this.

Are you confusing CIC-HA to CIs?
I've never had a CI - but I did have a completely-in-canal hearing aid in 1999/2000. I didn't like it, made my ear sore as crap. But then again my parents forced me to wear the thing from the time I got up until the time I went to bed. I had sores in my ear all the time. They claimed they knew more about it than I did. Pffft! They weren't the ones having to go through all the stuff I was dealing with at that time, and they weren't the ones being forced to wear this thing in their sore ear all day every day.
I am thinking I would start off just wearing it for a couple of hours a day then gradually work up to wearing it while working or at Uni, but take it off at night and on weekends to give my ears a break.

I think Grummer missed the 2nd C (as I initially did) & mistook it for CI. Our eyes & brains will do that.

Scrolled through messages posted on the yahoo group "ProblemCI" - quite illuminating. Went to hospital for final round of Hepatitis B vaccination, made an appointment for an audiogram so I can finally get a new and better digital hearing aid for free from the government. In Canada, you qualify for a free aid every seven years. I bought a digital hearing aid two years ago but the volume is weaker than my original analog. Heard the free one is far superior. Go figure.

soerry yeah i saw CIC - I thought that was a typo for CI, and no i had no idea was CIC was, but im sure BTE has more power yes..CI drains batterys like crazy as i was told, so nah...also with BTE its Your kind of 'hearing' why change it and go thru all the hassles?
id rather stay natural and if they stop making BTE id go completely Deaf, its my right - fuck the hearing

in that case i tihnk a BTE might be better because you'd have softer ear molds your ear would fiind it more forgiving. jmho

I had a doctor's appointment. I picked up my hearing aid which I did not know was in until I went to my HA place. They have been trying to reach me but I did not have power until this afternoon (Thanks, Irene!). I watched some TV for first time since Saturday. I started to read Huckleberry Finn today.
