Would you rather date...

I am in the middle of the hearing and the deaf person, which probably makes thinks more complicated because I feel like I really don't fit in both sides. I don't know sign language so it'd be easier to communicate with a full on hearing person, but... a hearing person doesn't understand what I go through every single day, but a deaf person would.

It's really hard! I see both sides and... argh.

I also have no relationship experience at all, so hell, what do I even know? Haha.
 
Ha i missed the old question.

It seems that i did date with deaf guys with ASL users in the past. my husband is my first deaf oral guy. yes he knows ASL after he learned from gallaudet.
 
Coming from 5th generation deaf, hearing gals are easy to get, deaf gals are hard to get. go figure! :lol:

Yea, I thought it was just me but I do realize its harder to find!

A lot of Deaf people are with Hearing people, and Many hearing (on all deaf) seek out Deaf people.

I do know deaf girls are more picky than hearing girls. Hearing girls think for themselfs and deaf girls listen to their parents. I have sympathy for deaf guys.

Am I right?!?
 
I am dating a hearing girl, and we've been together for almost 4 years... If i had to do it over again... I'm not sure if I would try for Deaf or Hearing... there are pros and cons to each... I think what ever happens happens... The most important things to me is that they understand me and love me... so it really depends...

Deaf and hearing gals are all the same either listen to parents or not. Please don't assume too much about deaf gals or hearing gals. So you assume that I listen to my parents for being picky. heck no. we deafies are not puppets to parents.

I know lots of deaf guys are married, or have girlfriends either deaf or hearing. so what are you talking about?
 
I have dated far more hearing men than deaf. But I was married to a deaf man for over 10 years. There was definitely an ease there with communication.

My SO now is hearing, we've been together more than 4 years. He is very, very good with communicating with me, and makes sure all his friends are too. It has worked out very nicely.

What I am trying to say is some hearing parents will try to get their deaf daughter to date or marry hearing guy to make her life a little easier. Im not gonna argue or anything. I've seen that happened before with my own eyes.

It depends on who I date. I once dated a person who was deaf who would go 3 days without texting or E mailing me. If the hearing person did that, I wouldn't be happy too. So deaf or not wouldn't matter to me.
