Do you Think a Condo Association has the Rights to Throw Away Clothes Left In Washing

I have dependable timer . it is very hard to find a timer that has long ring on it.
One thing I think it wrong it that note was put where is hard to read if you need reading glasses and we have a lot of older people living here. The condo is rule is that the trustees have to send everyone a letter when they made new rules and this was not done!! I am going to find out if it legal for the condo to do this !

yes it's legal. laundry/dryer machines are their property. They posted signs about the rules. All perfectly legal.

If you don't like it - you can get your laundry done at any other laundromat of your choosing... the one that cleans, folds and delivers clothes to you. We have many services like this.

It is NOT the condo property. We rent them from a company! My condo does not own the machines that why I wonder if it legal for the condo to throw away people clothes. I think they're being assholes!
 
Why be so negative, whatdidyousay! ??....Just write down the time you put the clothes in the washer, then you will know when to go back and put them into the dryer....simple as 1-2-3....

If it's too hot to stay inside the laundry room, then go outside and find a shady tree in the courtyard.....or take a fan with you and some ice water....

If all that is still not acceptable to you...then consider getting a portable washer/dryer for ur condo....
 
Look at the Association bylaws. You would have received a copy when you purchased your condo.

Labeling your condo management "assholes" doesn't really help, does it?

If the machines are not available to you when they need them, what is your solution for when clothes are left too long in the machines?

When my grandparents lived in a single-wide mobile home after they retired (in the 1960's), my grandmother did her laundry in the kitchen sink, even bed sheets. She didn't let it pile up. She did a little each and every day.

Are they not on condo property? Is the condo association the one who made the rules? Did the Condo association make the space available for another company to provide the washer and dryer? All of these answers should be found in the paperwork from the condo association that includes the rules and regulations. I know hubby and I got them yearly. I know you say the machines are not condo property, but they are ON condo property, therefore, the condo association is allowed to make the rules.
 
I remmy the times when I had to wash some of our clothes in our bathtub. Our washer has broken down and the new washer wouldn't be in until a few days later.....And I also hung them up outside to dry.....
 
We sure have it easy today. How sad it is that we quickly forget how great we have it today. I remember my grandma doing laundry when I was young. she had one of those older washers. Had to fill it up by hand to make sure water don't overspill.. and when done washing.. she had to put clothes through the 2 rollers to squeeze water out of clothes and then go hang them up. Outside in summer and winter.

How about those that had to wash clothes before they even had machines?

Now we are complaning that our clothes gets taken out of dryer before we get to them cause we forget to go get them?

yep,, you sure do have right to be angry.
 
I have to agree that yes, the condo association is most likely perfectly within the law to make that rule.

If you can't stay down there (and I for sure agree with you to never bring your dog down there if there is rat poison - EEEWWWW!!! - plus if there is rat poison, there must be rats, so I wouldn't want to hang around there myself, either - double EEEWWWW!!), then a) set timer, on your cell-phone if you have one, or buy yourself a huge ol' kitchen timer that you can easily see, and b) put your wrist-watch on the opposite wrist of where you usually wear it. If it is usually on your left wrist, put it on your right. That will remind you "ah, I have to pay attention to the time!"

I would never even think of leaving the laundomat till my clothes were done! :shock: I'd do what you did.
 
There're tons of ways to remind yourself to go get your clothes, and tons of stuff to do in the time between putting your clothes in and when they're done. If you find something that works for you, and you're prompt in getting your clothes out, it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Admit it, though. If someone left their clothes in the washer overnight and you HAD to get laundry done for an interview or something, you'd be pissed. It's a matter of courtesy to take care of your laundry. Washing machines =/= Storage facility.

Where I'm from, we take out the load, and put it somewhere like on top of the machine or a table then put in our load. Not that hard to do.

Good point! I wouldn't want to risk leaving my clean laundry there and having rats nest in it overnight. :eek3:

If the rat poison is visible and accessible to people and dogs that use the room, then it's not being applied properly. What about kids who go into the room? It sounds like the condo maintenance staff is trying to DIY the pest problem instead of hiring professionals.

That's why I said I don't want any strangers touching my laundry. Ugh!

Besides, what happens if there is another stack of laundry on the available spaces still there? Keep piling them? Another ugh!

I dont even like cleaning out the lint thing in drier from other people, I think its gross! That has their skin cells, and hair and "stuff" on it and i just think its gross.
