illegal is very not allow! that is why serious USA and Canada is very illegal!
Wait. What about weeds?
I've always wondered this. I know every state is different, but let's say someone who is on SSI gets caught and charged for illegal drugs, will their benefits get cut off?
You can get just as easily addicted to prescription medications, if not moreso. Legality is not an indicator of either safety or addiction potential.
Rich people get employed and make money using drugs because they can pay a doctor to prescribe it, legitimately or not, right dose or not. When they fail a UA, if they're even given one, they just produce a prescription and do just fine.
Poor people get fucked not only out of work, but even now government services, because they can't afford to have a legitimate prescriber of often the same medication, or even less addictive medications, and need to self medicate.
It has nothing to do with addressing the segment of the population that becomes dangerously addicted. These sorts of laws have everything to do with punishing poor people for the same thing that rich people get away with every day.
If they do prison time, the SSI will be cut off while they are incarcerated. They can reapply once they are released.

True. You can get just as easily addicted to prescription medications, if not moreso. Legality is not an indicator of either safety or addiction potential.
If people are rich and employed, then they aren't eligible for welfare benefits in the first place.Rich people get employed and make money using drugs because they can pay a doctor to prescribe it, legitimately or not, right dose or not. When they fail a UA, if they're even given one, they just produce a prescription and do just fine.
If poor people can't afford legitimate prescriptions, then how are they getting the medications that they can't afford that would show up in a drug screening?Poor people get fucked not only out of work, but even now government services, because they can't afford to have a legitimate prescriber of often the same medication, or even less addictive medications, and need to self medicate.
Are rich people using welfare checks to buy their drugs? It has nothing to do with addressing the segment of the population that becomes dangerously addicted. These sorts of laws have everything to do with punishing poor people for the same thing that rich people get away with every day.
Contrary to popular belief, addiction does NOT necessarily mean lack of productivity. You can be addicted and still do the job.
Caffeine is highly addictive yet it has enabled people to be productive. Amphetamines are addictive but many take them legally (rx) just for performance boost. Alcohol is addictive but many drink to mellow out. New sedatives like Ambien and Lunesta are addictive but many take them for sleep. Some people take Xanax or Valium everyday for decades without apparent ill effects.
My cousin was an alcoholic but he worked til he died of alcoholic complications.
Very unlikely, if you did commit a crime and released from prison so you cannot get SSI back until you get rights back, just same example for lose to right to vote too.
If they do reapply then they will be disqualified for while, I believe so.
My dad was an alcoholic, too, and he worked until he became too sick from cirrhosis of the liver, which killed him.Contrary to popular belief, addiction does NOT necessarily mean lack of productivity. You can be addicted and still do the job.

However, do you really want your surgeon, pilot, bus driver, police officer, dentist, or daycare worker under the influence of any unregulated or unmonitored chemical, especially chemicals that are of unknown quality and quantity?

What makes you think that they aren't?Somehow I wonder if drug users were mostly white people in Florida and Georgia, how would this all play out?
I assume that it's only the low-income people who would be eligible for welfare money. How do you know that they're using the money for food for their kids and not for drugs or alcohol? What about programs that feed the children directly?Drug use at the hands of low-income (and in those states, mostly black) people need to be excessively 'punished' by making it even more hard for them to feed their kids. WTF?
In addition to not getting welfare money, they and the children are not getting Medicaid services?Donno about you, but why does denying children food or their parents mental health treatment (eg, Medicaid) help in regards to drug use?! It doesn't! No one is going to think, "I better put down this crack. I may get me banned offa the Medicaid rolls!"
I thought benefits were denied to current drug users.Sheesh, let's not stop there. Let's deny welfare to all people who have ever been convicted of anything more than a traffic ticket. That will clear up the streets of America, mmhmm.

Drugs is an 'us' v. 'them' thing. Rx drugs and people who can use drugs and function are not criminalized. (Thinking about you, Limbaugh, Lohan, et al.)

I don't know if it is a matter of race or poverty, but those things are rarely cut and dry. *sigh*

if they are out of the incarcerate and still is disabled then they can get SS benefits back. Or if they turns 62 then they still can get SS benefits back such as retirement, survivor or SSI.

Thank you for confirmation. I knew I wasn't wrong!![]()

actually age 65 for drawing up a SSI benefit, not age 62 or disabled, only to limited resource.
anyone can check out The United States Social Security Administration
