Rural living means less stress

Not him either. A lot of people have no clue what rural exactly is. The general accepted definition is that it's back in the countryside.

A ton of mountain towns are rural, just because it is smaller than 20,000 people and at least 20 miles away from the closest city that has a population of 50,000+. This is according to the USDA Rural Development office.

That is why I threw in the mountain town of Estes Park picture. Estes park does not feel rural at all, but it is.

Rural or not - if you drive more than 10 miles to rent a redbox movie, you're a fool. This is why a friend has a netflix sub.

Amended the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act of 1972 to increase the grant amounts authorized to be made by the Secretary for water and waste facilities. Revised the definition of “rural” and “rural area,” for the purposes of eligibility for grants and loans for such facilities, to limit eligibility to those cities, towns, or unincorporated areas with populations of no more than 10,000 residents.

But the definition of rural is not all that clear cut.

Haha, that's a rock climbing gym :)

but yea - thanks for proving my point since the nearest Redbox kiosk is about 20 miles away in Loveland, CO.

I never implied or said that rural area is some backward country... a middle of nowhere with nothing but lazy horses/cows sprawling around and hay in the mouth. I was just puzzled when koko said that gas cost is non-issue when going to Redbox. That implies he isn't really in rural area as he claims because I know Redbox is usually always located at commercial establishment.

Based on what he said - it sounds like he's living in area where I wanted to live. An area with low population, open space feel, and close to commercial establishment for convenience purpose.

There's only like two redboxes in my area and I live in a heavily populated area... How strange. We do have other versions of redboxes though like.. instant flix something?

that other version of redbox failed quickly because its price was ridiculous. $2.99/night?

In here - that kiosks got replaced by Redbox

"it ain't rural if Redbox is that close to you."

Nice backpedaling.

I made my point clear about Buena Vista, CO...a town of 2,100...that carries Redbox.

AKA a homesteading hippie.

Sorry. Just grouchy because I used to grow up in the boonies, and I see people who are looking for the "country life" moving in and demanding politicians to change the local bylaws to be similar to the large cities they just moved from. What's the freakin' point of that? Let be honest, these people want nothing more than suburban life with more green space.

yea.... I said that. It ain't rural as we thought it is for you because you made it sound like there's no Walmart or malls.

ah... now I get what you're saying. lol homesteading hippie. Looks like we've got one here now.

This is the kind of rural living I want one day. :) Love the concept and love how affordable it is as well as how self-sustainable it can be. Wait till you see the inside of this house - really impressive!

looks nice but... to live in there? I'd hate to deal with bugs on daily basis...

Haha! well, it's very well insulated, I have bugs coming through my windows and I live on the third floor of a triplex. Meh.

Gnats, musquitoes, fruit flies not so bad - I got one of those screened basket thingies that one puts over their fruits, ants and this weird looking brown flying bug. I'm not a fan of airconditioning so I keep my windows and doors wide open for the lovely cross breeze. Downside are bugs during humid weather.
